Over the past month I have been experiencing a numbness in my left hand (and forearm). It isn't there ALL the time, however it is there most of the day and has made playing FFR and stepmania quite difficult. I do not know the cause of this (I make sure to keep my wrists elevated while playing), but it does worry me a lot. I don't want to have to quit playing FFR and stepmania, I like it too much. All of it, the community, the simfiles, the challenge, the bragging rights. Anyway, this post was about my hand, not how much I am going to miss this place if it turns out that I have a ganglion or carpal tunnel (which, judging by a quick google search, is likely.).
Is there anyone else out there experiencing a problem like this?

I had a slight symptom of carpal once but it went away after I took a 15 minute break. Never had any other similar experiences though. And no matter how much you love FFR, you'll only be hurting yourself more and more by continuing to play it. I'd strongly suggest taking a break before you seriously hurt yourself and put permanent damage on your wrists so that you'll NEVER be able to play FFR again ;___;

That is definitely sad. Does the feeling of numbness get stronger after you finish playing a song on FFR (probably badly because your hand feels numb halfway through?) I have never felt a numb sensation after playing FFR, but I definitely feel it after playing fast songs on the piano or ones requiring lots of hard-to-reach octaves, so I've had to cut back on the piano playing for that reason. Whether or not you should worry enough about this to cut back on the activity, as I did with the piano, is questionable in my mind... It depends on a bunch of key factors like when exactly the symptoms show up, how severe they are, how long they last, et cetera... If you have been feeling numbness for all of this month in your left hand/forearm then that really concerns me. Maybe you should start doing a bunch of hand exercises?...
Hm. *Finally I start a new paragraph, haha.* What to say after this point escapes me; you should just continue researching things online, I suppose, or hope that other members will post similiar testimonies to help you out. I can't imagine you ever truly quitting FFR because of this problem, though; With your MP level so high, it'd be tough to quit! |

I am having sharp pains in my fingers. I will randomly get them throughout the day right at the top knuckle.

I'm currently on a break from FFR due to RSI. I want to play so badly, too. ;-; Oh well.
