Excuse me, sir, but if yo haven't noticed that specified forum is and has been down for quite sometime (if ya didn't get da memo). And as I said earlier, it's a bit hard for people to notice a complaint when only a single person is representing KB players. The idea for furthuring the development for SMO and SM/KB options would be nice...but there just isn't enough people willing to take the time to do it. That's what a0 is trying to say, I believe.

i'm horribly confused as to just WHY you all seem to think an entire separate game is necessary when stepmania functions perfectly as a keyboard-based game. NO ONE (save a select few) is "forbidding" you from playing on pad, simply asking that the game's developers try to cater to EVERYONE (especially, you know, the MAJORITY OF ITS USERBASE) when programming, rather than being biased toward pad players simply because the game resembles DDR.

the fact is, stepmania as a keyboard game has grown so much because, as a keyboard game, it is simply more playable than as a pad game. why bother playing stepmania on pad at all i wonder? there are machines for it everywhere. theres obviously nothing wrong with playing sm on pad, but there's CERTAINLY nothing wrong with playing it on keyboard, and the fact that it has gained so much popularity should signal to you that maybe, JUST MAYBE, it can and should function as a keyboard based game.

and midi guy, my -point- is that you state your claim that no one cares about keyboard players, they are worthless, etc etc, and yet you play the damn keyboard game yourself.

Exactly, that's all Arch really wants is to be heard without the conflict. now I know that some KB players are going to start crap...I feel that every group has people like that--It's something that we should make an attempt at overlooking.

Of course the way Arch is doing it is all wrong IMO, as it looks like he wants us to ralley behind him and crawl all over over SM.com--which is stupid and lowers ourselves to what he truly hates.

I used to play the game. I haven't played a game in about 2 or 3 years.

Because most of the people playing SM-SMO are complete dicks, and no-one likes a dick.

Matter of fact, you can't go one session of SMO without being insulted because you can't AAA some silly song like Spooky. And I'm speaking from experience.

I also play pad and im not an AAA master, but there's less tension there because there's an actual phsyical limitation and learning curve to it, and a decently large one.

Heck, if most of the SMO dicks would shut up, we'd all be best friends :V

Right, we all need to start acting like adults--Only then can we get the best of what SM has to offer. This stupid Pad vs KB thing has gone for too long and people who just want to fight are doing nothing but becoming what they hated in the first place.

Besides that, I said all I feel needs saying about the subject for now (at least untill someone makes a good point/Arch gets back)

There is a slight physical limitation and a semi-large learning curve. The additional limitation comes from hitting the keys at a hell of a high speed

Umm...if you don't want to be treated as if you should know what you're talking about, don't talk about it as if it is fact. you claim smo is a breeding grounds for keyboard playing "dicks" who will make fun of you if you suck, when in actuality this is far from true. you say you haven't been on in two years, so why in the hell would you make such a claim as if it holds water today??

"the minority you are talking about" lmao. -fact:- there is an abundance of ddr and pump players on smo. in the stepmania world in general, keyboard players are the vast MAJORITY, while smo has declined amongst them in popularity.

sidenote: i don't understand how you can claim with any merit that there is a lesser learning curve or physical limitation to keyboard play vs. pad play, ESPECIALLY being someone who doesn't play the game. learning to ma on a keyboard is the same as learning to ma on a pad, mastering very fast passages on keyboard is the same as mastering them on pad (only obviously faster in proportion to the method you are playing with..), and the element of READING notes in complex charts adds an entirely unique element to keyboard play that is completely ABSENT from pad play. small learning curve...
