I got an e-mail from Nintendo, (Maybe someone else asked this question, I never searched this tread) and its about the SSBB Tournament. The Grand Prize is just a trip to NY/Nintendo World Store? Or is there more to it? http://nintendo.ca/cgi-bin/usersite/...g=en&pageNum=7 I want to enter but all i'm saying is will it be worth it?

Yep, I have it.

So I got it at a gamestop and afterwards I thought I'd give it a try at a display in the store. He played as Lucas and I played as Meta-Knight. I racked up the damage with that crazy hyper-speed sword he has and knocked him out with some sort of smash hit. After he came back a hammer fell in front of him so I died pretty quickly. That was about when time ran out, leading to the 300% sudden death thingy, which I think is pretty cool, however it's pretty lame when items can win the game for you, like how a bomb appeared 2 ft above my head while I was slicing him up and exploded, immediately killing me, which of course led to the hooting droves screaming OWNED ROFLROFLROFL. I just kind of went o.O, said, "uh... good game" and left.

Smash players are still the lowest form of life.

So I'm guessing they left in the 15 second wait to fight Wolf in SSE.

That is a straight up lie. Ike is wayyy too much fun to be terrible lol.

He isn't that bad, he's a big slower, but so are all the strong characters.

Went to a midnight launch party..wasn't as impressed with brawl as I was hoping. Peach plays like a completely different character now that she doesn't have a dmsash that's worth EVER doing, Marth is laughably overpowered (his fsmash seems to kill at even lower percentages than in melee if it's not suffering from move degredation), and the game feels a lot different from melee. I'm not saying it's anywhere near bad but from the 5 hours I played it, it just feels sluggish because everyone is floatier and can recover from much further away, so the games last really long (4 person, 3 stock ffa is 6-8 minutes). One of the good points of brawl, however, would probably be that Ike and DDD are both awesome and actually fun to play, unlike the heavyweights in melee. Metaknight and pit are annoying as hell. The pokemon trainer should have just been 3 characters so you weren't forced to use 2 other characters you don't like if you only like one of them. More of the characters should be unlocked from the beginning (you start with about a THIRD of them). Load times are sorta erratic. At the beginning of the night they were 10-15 seconds pretty consistently but later on we thought it had frozen and were about to reset it when it finished. Probably just the Wii and not the game. Overall, a pretty fun game, but Melee > Brawl so far. I'll admit that I'm a little biased since I've played Melee for a total of a couple hundred hours and Brawl for 5.

Well, tonight was interesting.

Headed to the GameStop tourney thing with my brothers, to find out only one of us could participate because we only had one copy on reserve. One of them immediately dropped out, not very enthusiastic about going in the first place. The other was confused, because he wanted to play, but thought I'd do better than him.

I went ahead and let him participate. He played Fox throughout, and won. Then his trophy was a wrestler with the title "Smash. Bros. - Local Legend of Wreckage."

Afterwards, the head guy was awesome and let everyone play the game while waiting for midnight. My brother, as the champion, got to be first up, and he beat like two people again before coming up against me. I picked Ike. I won. In fact, I went 3-0 at GameStop on the night . Ike, Meta Knight, Marth in that order. (They let us keep unlocked characters after the tourney since it was just for fun while waiting anyway).

The Wiimote+nunchuck control scheme is really weird, but it was easy enough to get used to. By the end of the first match I had a pretty good grip on it. Shielding with the left hand is kinda strange, and there's no single button for tossing items (I think maybe one direction on the dpad could do that, but it's really inconvenient), but overall, not that bad. If I had to switch to it, I could. But as of now, I'm sticking with the GCN controller.

So then we went home, and we started playing. We've gotten like three new characters so far, but I plan on finishing SSE soon enough and getting the rest of them.

But one thing though, it's weird. People kept saying that Brawl feels totally different from Melee and that it takes forever to get used to. It doesn't feel all that strange to me, and I adapted very easily. I now feel very comfortable in the game, and I don't fall into any Melee habits. This is after just a few hours of playing.

I don't know, either people were exaggerating or I'm just really good at adapting to things.

So I just worked the midnight launch, that was a fun time. We opened the doors at 10pm and let people get ready for the tourney, soon enough there were 50+ people in my little GameStop waiting around for either the tourney to start or waiting until midnight.

I have never smelled so much horrible B.O. in my entire ****ing life. Oh my god it was wretched.

Also, it was probably the funniest thing I can recall happening at work in months. We had been expecting a trophy for the winner of our tournament, we were told we'd be getting a trophy from Nintendo featuring Mario. When we opened the box with the trophy today, this is what we received.

lmfao

oh hi im back from playing for a few hours

adventure mode is boring to play after a while

oh and I cant play online for some gay reason that i cant figure out. I can watch matches just fine, but if I try to play, either no players show up or they do show up and my timer runs down to 0 and just sits there at zero for like 5 minutes

Yeah, I can only ever match up with like 2 other players when I do online mode, and it takes forever... what's up with that?

Adventure mode is cool though.
