Default Undoubtedly common questions...

I have several questions regarding how you can set up the controls/mods on FFR.

One, I play Stepmania with two hands: one hand on the F,D,S,E keys and the other on the directional arrows. Is there any way I can set these controls up for FFR?

Second, when playing stepfiles people have uploaded is there a way to use speed mods?

And lastly, why is it songs I upload with speed changes won't record other peoples' scores but ones that have no speed changes will record their scores?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for bearing with me.

check this out for a resonance keymap

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...light=solution

and if you want to speed up/slowdown sims on resonance, go to the address bar and trype in a number where it says speedmod=3 (a number above three will speed it up, lower slow it down.)

1. I recommend using MRichards' FFR Keyremapper, which can be found here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=77100. It's a lot easier to use than autohotkey, has some slick already built-in features such as a boo-out key, and has a much smaller timing delay.

2. Yes there is. I assume you are talking about FFR resonance, in which case after you load a song, in the url it should say Speed1=3. You can change the 3 to make the arrows scroll faster or slower by raising or lowering that number.

3. The FFR Resonance engine doesn't support bpm changes yet, although the admins plan on adding this feature when they can.

PS Welcome to the forums! Be sure to read the stickies and announcements if you haven't already. Your grammar and spelling is way above average for a new poster.

Thanks, the forums here seem pretty friendly so I'll probably spend more time here in the future. I'm already getting familiar with the options!

And thanks to everyone else who's responded, for a moment I was worried FFR wasn't geared toward my playing/reading style. -,-

I'm sorry, but that style of play is considered "double setup" (which is using two keys for one arrow) and is against the rules.

I take it it gives the player an unfair advantage, then. Is it against the rules for any type of play on FFR, or only tournaments and the like? How do people detect if someone is playing double setup?

It's against the rules no matter what. Easiest way to detect it is if you get a omgwtfjesuslolhax score on a song with a lot of jacks (ex. GGC runny cp), when your best score besides those is a ****ty score.

You get a lot more boos with double setup and as said before it is cheating.

Also if you subscribe you can change your keys to your preference, and you don't get AV misses. I highly recommend subscribing if you want to get any high scores.

All these years of playing SM and I never even knew it was considered cheating. I figured it was just strategy. It'll take some time weaning myself off of that old setup. =\

Think of it this way: 1 finger per key. If you use 2 fingers on a single arrow key, thats considered Double setup.

Considering you're chaning styles anwsy, go spread, It's a lot like what your already playing, but you only use 4 fingers instead of 6-8

Any suggestions on how I should have the keys set up? I'm not entirely keen on some of the terms... like, how is spread set up?

Using one set of inputs for every arrow is fine, but once you start using more than one input for an arrow, that's considered cheating- double setup, triple setup, quad setup (lol), etc.

If someone, let's say, FCs Revolutionary Etude with like 700 boos, that's probably some terrible job at dsing, or they just got really really really lucky.

Also, the FFR Beta has a built in key remapper- currently, it is only available to subscribers. It will be made public, soon, so if you can wait, it'll be made available to you.
