0peth, you forgot Opeth.

Death metal, and folk acoustic combined. Next to Slayer, they are my favorite.

It's not about the enjoyment anymore to be honest with you, It's all about brutal breakdowns with simple random riffs or a high profile view on myspace.

lol the day i find/enjoy music solely because of myspace, oh man i dont even know what i would be able to say.

and there is nothing wrong with brutal breakdowns, melodic death metal is part of the times now, and you're just going to have to accept that.

Oh, alright. I never knew that, ShAi. I'll start thinking about it though so I can perpetuate this metal stereotype just for you.

Lmao I'm done here, none of you have even suggested an actual tech-death band and I fear that all of you don't know any to pull out. So I will be leaving this thread and will contribute one more time.

Cephalic Carnage is a phenomenal beast to the genre.

ShAi, anyone can look up tech death bands on Wikipedia. Don't think you're special and that the rest of us are inferior.

Also, why don't you suck on some Arsis. Is that metal enough for you?

Lmao, wikipedia? I have been listening to these bands for years and I have listened to CC since 2000 so don't judge me so harshly. Just because bands I have posted are accurately indexed on a website does not mean it has any correlation with my knowledge.

I said I would be leaving so I hope that I can keep it at that.

You don't want to be judged, yet you want to judge everyone else who doesn't listen to the same bands as you?

Smells like Hypocrisy. Which, ironically enough is a pretty good metal band.

I did not judge anything, I clearly stated a major problem with the metal scene recently being overtaken with less talented and over-produced bands that have no relation to the great metal era.

I want more music that makes me feel like a badass warrior slaying my enemies or lyrics that tell the world to **** off when they're wrong. Not a whining teenager that is pissed off for selfish or immature reasons because he has no inner strength.

It's not always about the music, it's moreover the message you want out of it well in my standards anyways.

Dragonforce is interesting. Many people hate on them for stupid little things. If you listen closely there's actually a demonic voice in some of the songs xD
As far as arguing about the "best" type of metal, cut the crap. Don't bash people because of a damned opinion. That just makes you look like a douche, and makes you sound more ignorant because you're not open enough.
We're trying to open up suggestions to new bands and discuss which BANDS rock out loud, so stop flaming. Thank you kindly. =]

Anyways. Unearth, A Dozen Furies, Trivium, Disarmonia Mundi, Tragic Deity, Neaera, The Absence, Alexisonfire, I Am Ghost. All good stuff. I have no mp3s of Tragic b/c they're a local band, but they're fricking amazing!

Horns up to those 3. Especially The Absence. They are so metal they don't even have a bass player.

1. Dragonforce sucks for obvious reasons.
2. Half of the bands you listed here aren't even metal
3. Axamenta is by far the best death metal band to have ever blessed this earth.
4. Brutal breakdowns are retarded, boring and all the same.

Seriously, though, I don't understand what the **** some of the band members are thinking when they start to make music. It's not original, new, clever, nothing... It's just bland, overdone, overhyped, unoriginal. It's not so much that only a few bands manage to be good, it's that so few actually try.

Old new school.
I used to listen to this stuff when I was 13-ish

Alexisonfire is so death metal. I love the way the use phrygian minor scales with such complexity, in a Jeff Water's spiderweb kind of manner.
Sarcasm. Love the band to bits, but they're not really thread-related.

Annihilator is awesome as well.
So is Daath.

I listened to Axamenta. Awesome band. Love the keyboards, and the guitar work is stellar.

They sort of remind me of Borknagar with the melodic vocals too.
