In my day, level 48s couldn't even ENTER El Nath dungeon.
And we had to walk uphill both ways to Zakum. In the snow. Without Snowshoes. Ok, so we did have snowshoes the whole time, but still.

Didn't you have major hardware issues though? Like... your **** sucked really bad, right? So now it won't, right? ps wait since when does dell firmly affix the motherboards into the case in that manner? EVERY computer I've ever seen has been MOUNTED, NOT soldered.

Yes it wont suck anymore. And yes freaking dell "soldered" the motherboard into the case...therefore i wont be on for a while, anyways i really need this break lol.

Re: MapleStory
There is no way the motherboard is soldered to the case. The case is plastic. You do not solder things to plastic. Have you ever touched anything plastic with a soldering iron? It just burns the **** out of it. Maybe some dumbass trying to build a comp himself could try to do such a thing, but a company of professional computer-builders would not do that.
Perhaps it isn't just screwed onto the case but is attached with something fixed and made of metal, but it is not soldered onto it. Even if you were to try to attach a board to a case by soldering, solder is not very strong and neither is burnt/melted plastic, so you could easily rip the board out, maybe only taking a chunk of burnt plastic case with you.

Re: MapleStory
Noah, I'm inclined to trust that you know what you're talking about, but I feel that I must point out that not all cases are 100% plastic. My own case is plastic with metal sides, and it is on one of those sides that the board is attached.

Re: MapleStory
Plastic cases cover a metal (aluminum, to be precise) chassis.
You can definitely solder a motherboard to the chassis. |

Re: MapleStory
Show me a motherboard that is soldered to the case it's in, or I won't believe you. Seriously, solder isn't very strong (at least not any solder I've ever seen) and you'd need a crapton of it to keep the motherboard attached. Plus most cases that I'm aware of don't have exposed metal parts to solder it to. So yes, maybe it's possible to solder a motherboard on, but I refuse to believe that any company that sells completed units has things in the case that way.
Back on topic: I hear some rumblings about private servers and source code and whatnot. Little bird tells me that at least one of the groups making a private server is going to release their source code when they're done (under the GPL or whatever, probably). AND LET ME TELL YOU WHAT, I would go to town with some MS source code. Ya know all those times when I say that if I were in charge that things would be way better? Oh we'd put that to the test, for sure.

Re: MapleStory
They already did, actually.
Odin released their work to other people. Private servers are opening up slowly, but they are out there. |

Re: MapleStory
Publicly? My understanding was that they were still working out the kinks, and once that was done they'd do a public release. If a download link for the source code is floating around somewhere I'd love to get it. D=
