Default Chatting

Ok so here's what I want to ask. Chat advice. Usually I have trouble just talking to someone in person or online for no particular reason. Casual chit-chat in other words. As long as there's a reason to talk or there's more than just myself and another person I'm fine, but when there's no reason to... yeah.

So since I'm not sure if this is a rare problem or not. Any advice?

Sometimes i have a problem talking to people when it gets late, but that's because i run out of things to say. Are you a conversationally agressive person?

You know, I seem to have the same problem when it comes to chatting, online or off. I just don't know what to say to a person when it is just about near nothingness but passing time. I guess you aren't alone.

Yeah, I can't bring myself to talk to anyone besides my friends unless I have a reason to talk to them (or I can convince myself there is a reason even if I know there really isn't =p).

Annoys the hell out of me.

It is very annoying...I'm sure people get bored of seeing:

"So...what are you up to?"

EVERY 5 MIINUTES when I chat with them.

There is really no advice anyone can give you. I've suffered from this problem a lot of times. If you can't talk to that one person then don't. Just let the conversation die..

So, what have you been up to lately, jewpinthebird?

Im kind of a talker. I have two distict modes, "fyad" and "HI ASL? LOLOLOLOL". Something switches between those two, but after 17 years of life I still dont know. Both are nice, when I think about it. Most of my friends have asked me at one point or another if I was on ADD medication, since I seem to have no middle ground. Its kinda smoothed out in the past few years.

For your problem, freak, its best to stay with more than one person. That usually lets people relax more. Anything as long as its not one on one, and let the other two people direct the conversation.

What I meant was, do you introduce the conversation to new topics often and rapidly, do you try to stay on one topic for as long as possible, or do you let the other person control the conversation. I'd guess the last one from what you've said.
When I talk to people, whether in real life or on AIM, I'm constantly thinking about whatever, and that's how random topics get started. I might see something that triggers a memory, and I comment on it. Just move with the flow of conversation, and get all you can from responses. Millk em for all they're worth, sometimes that's what you have to do. Eventually, you'll be able to make good conversation without thinking about it.

I've been talking to a lot of new people lately, and I just let them start the conversation, although I have much to say. It actually ends up that the one I talk to runs out of things to say and he talks to me again the other day. But there are times that there's almost nothing to say esp if you've been talking to a certain person several times already.

If you can't think of anything to say, don't even start a conversation. On the internet, just don't Im them, in real life, walk by and wave or something.

I talk to random people on AIM if I'm bored. Hell, anyone reading this, if you are bored I will talk to you unless I am busy (rarely). I get bored easily so it's not hard to have a conversation with me.
