you didn't count my points for solving round 10.... i should have 38, not 34. you also did not count dabigpig's round 10.

i also improved my szamar, but want to get it better than 7. it's currently 8-0-0-1. i've had runs of 4 and 6 goods, both with misses after 1000 combo.

Except that I really despise it and the staircases are extremely hard to PA =/ Thanks for the vote of confidence though :) Someday I'll get around to it; hopefully before the tournament is over, although if it's not going to bump me up a rank in the standings, then I won't worry about it until much later.876

EDIT: Only if 09876 could manage to beat my score for round 10 would I need to AAA it to hold my standings, so I'm guessing it will be faaaaaar in the future when I ever play this again.

Once again, I recorded it in one spot, but forgot to carry it over to the other fields, fixed now.

And jonathanasdf, I'm not seeing where I missed points of yours, PM me what failed to update?

I was bored, so I updated the scoring based on 3 alternate scoring systems. All had me far and away in 1st, but while Fractal and solidly in 2 of them, he is in 3rd by 1 point in the 3rd. Dabigpig is in 4th in the 1st, behind dore.... but 3rd in the middle and 2nd in the third (although likely the last 2 FFR rounds will wind up knocking him into 3rd in that as well, but very close).

You can also see Yukari being decently close (over 2/3) in the 1st, and progressively farther behind in the others.

Which all makes sense, since the 1st gives the most weight to FFR, the 2nd gives solid weight to FFR, but penalizes the ultra good by nerfing AAA value, but it helps those who are only average at FFR. And the 3rd gives 2/3 weight to mental, with only 1/3 to FFR, even with no AAA nerfing.

i took 2 semesters of java in college, as well as a semester on website programming (css, javascript, etc). wound up with a computer applications minor to go along with my finance degree and physics minor. that was plenty for me.

Pretty cool :)

I figure if I had been active in the community when I first joined, I could have secured a pretty high spot in this tournament; not a freaking genius at critical thinking, but I'm pretty good, and my scores are better ^_^

You won 'em all :O

yup. i think the 2nd of the 3 would make for the best model in a future tournament. weighted values on AAAs as a nerf to FFR skill. as this tournament really should have more weight on the mental aspect than the FFR side.

although, perhaps in a future tournament, the non-mental side could branch out into other games. like rubix's. that would be good too, to give more variety and make it less-FFR-dependent.

That's a consideration. I'd certainly planned to run tourneys in the future that had nothing to do with playing FFR at all, whether they be purely puzzle/mental based, or branch into playing various online games.

The scoring setup was one of the things I did poorly this time around, though that is mitigated somewhat by the fact that I assigned the point values figuring on 30some people participating every round.

It basically is the case that Rubix had the best scoring system for this kind of game. Set a score for first, deduct X% from each ensuing correct response. It keeps things balanced, and allows for weighting of different rounds in different ways much more easily.

Edit: I'm mostly just glad that even with all the glaring flaws, people are still enjoying this.

I specifically love the genius of solving an entire puzzle, manipulating the solution to come up with a number, and the number is the ID of the song, which means the round has essentially barely begun at that point. Never gets old getting your PM back confirming a correct result ^_^

I agree with tass. I like the second scoring system best, although im a little biased because of my amazingly bad FFR skills. but that would seem most fair to both ends of the spectrum...and maybe dore will lay an egg somehow and forget to submit so i can come in third
