Jake Gyllenhaal gave him AIDS? D:
In all seriousness... it bugs me how everybody freaks out over the death of someone famous. There's hundreds dying in Africa and nothing ever seems to happen unless a celebrity does something about it... death eventually comes to everyone, just unfortunate that it happened so soon. |

Right. That's the thing - if a million people in Africa had been endeared to America, it would be tragic when they all died. But this is an icon - a man who rose above head and shoulders above everyone else that died. It's not just that a person died, it's also what he represents.
I feel no shame in feeling more remorse for his death than a death that will never affect me in a foreign country. I know it sounds insensitive, but that's just the way it is.

And, yes Mal, I agree. I don't really care that those people are dying in Africa since it won't affect me personally. -o24

It's not that I don't care. It's that it doesn't impact me. I get those facts thrown in my face all the time, it's nothing more than a statistic, and no matter how many photographs college bound hobby-hippies throw in my face wil change their rhetoric.
And I do care about icons. The icons of the world are what people aspire to be. They are examples of what we can become if we try hard enough. To see one fall like this - overdose or not - is a shame. Not to mention that he was a talented actor. He will be missed.

You're trying to equate a murderer with a man who perhaps struggled with drug addiction and had possibly been trying to control it. Battling powerful psychological addictions and failing in no way means you deserve to die.... that's a ridiculous statement.
Wasn't too familiar with Heath so this doesn't really affect me as much as most people, but it still sucks that he died so young. |

I am astonished... I wouldn't have expected Heath to OD on anything... Didn't seem like that type of guy to me.
He was a pretty good actor and it's always sad to see any celebrity pass away... especially in this way. ![]()

He was on a prescription sleep aid and an OTC sleep aid. It's possible he was told to take both by his doctor as he had known sleep problems, and it's VERY easy to OD on sleep meds.

Perhaps but just because he apparently overdosed doesn't mean that he deserved to die too.

It wasn't entirely OD, they found alcohol by him too, so the drugs he was taking prolly didn't mix well with the alcohol and that coulda contributed to it too..
