Re: My Hip-Hop Beat *streaming*
To be honest the drums are fun for a little bit but the song is very repetitive and has a very ODD timing. I really like the synth about halfway through though. I heard the best analogy about music production i've ever heard about a week ago.

Re: My Hip-Hop Beat *streaming*
I agree with you about the odd timing of my song; I fixed it. It sounds a lot better: http://www.supload.com/listen?s=Q8M933538WY2
It's a hip-hop beat not a song, yet. I'm planning having a couple of my friends rap on it. "In Hip hop music, the term beat has come to be defined as the entire instrumental, non-vocal portion of the song. A beat is a pulse on the beat level, the metric level at which pulses are heard as the basic unit. Thus a beat is the basic time unit of a piece; for every tick on a metronome, each tick is a beat. Depending on the context, beat may denote either" Beats and songs are different. Repetition in beats is not as important as it is in songs = vocals/beat In hip-hop it's alright for the beat to be repetitive. "While hip-hop beats have progressed and changed over time, there have also been constants, such as repetition and rhythmic complexity, that remain as similarities between all the beats." For example (Alicia Keyes - No one); notice the repetition in the beat. The song was the number one single in hip-hop of 2007. There are vocals in it, and again the beat is repetitive, but the beat and vocals compliment each other thus making the song a masterpiece: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ktUSIJEiOug Source - http://www.indiana.edu/~urbanflk/hip_hop/voakes2.html Last edited by chemicalrabbit; 01-13-2008 at 05:43 PM.. |

Re: My Hip-Hop Beat *streaming*
I've heard all of Nujabes songs; they're wonderful. I try to make music like Nujabes sometimes, but I'm not sure if it's good or not. I haven't had any feedback:
http://www.myspace.com/fairedore ^There's a song very similar to Nujabes style in my opinion titled "From the Time." |

And for the beat you made, it doesnt feel like hiphop/rap at all. I couldnt imagine someone rapping to it. It feels like techno.

Re: My Hip-Hop Beat *streaming*
I think I made the synth a little bit too loud. That might be why

Re: My Hip-Hop Beat *streaming*
I agree that the synths are to loud, but i feel that there needs to be more snare, like a snare roll. I can see with the synths lowered how it would work though. After re-listening to it, i think if your friends are good rappers it will be good.
