Megan, a 13-year-old who suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder, corresponded with Josh for more than a month before he abruptly ended their friendship, telling her he had heard she was cruel. The next day Megan committed suicide...

They do. You have to be 14 to set up an account. I guess she lied about her age.

if your son/daughter would kill themselves over a myspace person they never met, then they should.

That's the definition of a scam, which, while you gain nothing from it, it is legal. When you start to gain something, it becomes illegal. If I went online and pretended to be a cute boy (huhu i am a cute boy) and got money off a girl, that would be illegal.

If I went online and badgered my daughter's suicidally depressed enemy until she killed herself by gaining her confidence and then betraying her, then that would be illegal.

The mother should be kicked in the goddamned throat for doing something like that.

A lot of people lie about their age on MySpace. I'm surprised a lawsuit of any kind hasn't been made against MySpace.

I can't believe how many people are completley disregarding mental illness - which is a clinical health problem. You have to take that in to account.

People who spout, "Natural selection," have no clue what they're talking about when it comes to situations like this. It's like telling a man on edge that you raped his wife. You're giving someone the motivation to act out - more so because the people acting out are not in their right mind.
