I've said this a thousand times and I'll say it again. Vista is not a ****ty OS. It has bugs but that's pretty much standard with any OS that is made that quickly. They know there are bugs in it but they would lose money if they don't release it early because debugging a major and complex OS would take far to long. Wait for SP1 or even SP2 to come out and it will be fine.
And to all those people saying Vista sucks because it's slow...it's not really the OS's fault. Vista is more intensive than XP therefore it needs to use up more of your resources. Answer? Get a better PC or downgrade. If you say XP will always run faster than Vista...Windows 1.0 will always run faster than XP. |

I've played on a vista and an xp, and the xp is far superior, but i figured something weird out about the pcs. vista actually ran ffr smoother with firefox...maybe my pc was the exception, but give it a try...xp is still far superior with ie tho.

Funny, I think this was a plot by my parents to stop me from playing so much FFR...

rofl I HIGHLY doubt that, I love my new laptop but the ffr is a huge downside. Thankfully I love playing stepmania so not having ffr for a week is fine, but I really wish I could get something nice to make it run smooth. I found the new flash beta but it only works on solaris systems(whatever the **** that happens to be) so still in search of help

Video cards make no difference for ffr or stepmania.
well, thats wrong, but you could play them flawlessly with integrated or whatnot.

Everyone was saying the exact same thing about XP when it first came out that they are about Vista. Now look, you're all defending XP.

Yes it is complicated, and not recommended for those who are not particularly computer-savvy, unless you follow a guide such as this. Even then. But make sure you know exactly what you are doing. And the most important part is... Back everything up first, to optical media or a hard drive not attached to your computer. If you are serious about doing this, then congratulations and good luck. In case you missed it, here's the link to the guide. Quote:

Why not dual boot XP and Vista?

Also a good idea, I just explained about dual booting Vista and Linux because somebody asked specifically about dual-booting those two operating systems.
If you want a step-by-step guide for dual-booting any other operating systems (or different distributions of Linux other than Ubuntu), just search on google. There are plenty.

I've got a vista laptop. I don't use it for ffr mainly because I'm stealing my neighbors wireless so its slower X3 but yeah at first I was like this is a piece o'crap but if you keep updating it, you start to get used to it and I actually really like it. :/
