I'm wondering if there is a way to shift the notes down in the middle of a file other than putting in a weird bpm that's really hard to guess just right to shift it exactly with the beat.

You can use a pause or insert beat from the area menu.

I don't understand how pauses works because it seems to make it so that I automatically miss all the notes when I do hit them for some reason, but the insert beat won't work because it isn't on beat that it shifts down to. It's like off some weird fraction of a beat.
If a bpm change is the only way, well, that's ok. I just would like an easier way.

A BPM change will be the easiest. Just go to .3x music rate and guess and check until you get it right.

For people who have no clue about gaps:
Insert one beat, change that beat to 30 BPM, and reset the rest to its proper BPM. Problem pretty much solved.

How I do it is, before doing anything I slow the music down quite a bit and on the first sound, I make it completely onsync by putting in an arrow on the exact second that the sound appears. Generally this is a green note in some random place. Then on the side, simply note the second at which the note occurs. Then adjust the gap so that the first quarter note (very top of the chart) occurs at the same second.

"Light Purple" is a 12th note I do believe. If it's ok or not is something I can't really say, as there are others with more experience on the matter.

Light purple is 24th note. At 187 BPM, you'd have something like a mix of 3- and 4-framers unless you can avoid using 12th jacks in the stream.
Try to water it down if you can. |

also, no christmas music until dec 2008... just a big fyi.
and 187 24th stream will be a no-no. that's the same as 280.5 16th stream, which is 40bpm faster than OMW. Unless the whole thing is rolls, it'll have massive framer issues. No 2 framers, but anything that is 2 notes apart will almost certainly be 3framers.

Flipside said that it was a song a TON of people liked, but that wasn't even the reason I stepped it. I saw that it was a Sharpnel song, but it didn't seem J-Pop/Rock/Uncoolness like some of their other songs are. It had that bad-ass vibe to it, and I looked at Blurk's WTFBBQ file for it and said, "Hmm, I should step the song for FFR but tone it down just a smidge from Blurk's." So I stepped it with a fast, crazy swing to it, but not crazy enough for 3-framers or worse. Nauticus was just... I dunno why I stepped it. Rebirth told me we had permission for Zaghurim's music when I suggested The Games We Never Played, so I looked at Nauticus and kinda liked the rhythm of it. Problem was, I had to add notes that captured the intensity of the song without going framer-mad. Both of them clock in at under 100 seconds in length, and less than 10 arrows/second, so I dunno... if they get in, they might be just high FMO in difficulty. But I highly suggest that Data Drain get AT LEAST mid-Guru. |

How the hell do you guys find good songs that can warrant FGO's?
I personally can't find anything. Anyone is free to suggest something to me though. Actually, I would be making my own music if possible, but my program was lost when the hard drive crashed.
