Having sound at the start is fine, just don't have steps there. If you do they'll get cut off and the in-game file will start at a seemingly random point. Sync and stuff will still be on though.

4-framers are almost always ok, but if you have an easy song with lots of potential ones (hi19's Ice Candy Pop for example), they'll be very annoying to beginners who don't know why they're missing notes, so it's advised not to have them, unless they feel very correct, in which case they'll probably be fixed manually.

I want to know this too. I still can't exactly figure out if adding 2 seconds of no arrows on stepmania is any different from adding 2 seconds of silence to the mp3. The songs I've stepped for ffr has 2 seconds of added silence to the mp3 and so my songs take a long time to start up. x3

FFR starts the song according to the mp3 and cuts off the steps from about the first two seconds.

If you want to step the beginning of the song add two seconds of silence. Otherwise, you don't have to.

Edit: EW pretty much said the same thing.

Ah. Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I added 2 seconds to the mp3 of some of my songs in which the steps start at the beginning, but on ffr it seemed too generous. I'm almost compelled to add only 1 second and see what happens on my future sims.

Alright, thanks. I've always been aware of avoiding 4-framers in easy songs, but now it seemed like 4-framers weren't allowed at all >_> Thanks for clearing it up.

bmah: if you want to be technical, only the 1st 35 frames are cut off. 30 frames = 1 second. so it's the 1st 1 1/6th, but it is just much easier to say 2 seconds. but, if you want to avoid your arrows scrolling through the opening "ready!", you'll have to start 3 1/3 seconds after the mp3 starts, as that graphic takes the 1st 70 frames to go through it's whole routine.

A lot of times I like the cutoff because there's no good place to start sometimes so I let FFR take care of it for me.

Damn, I just noticed that Eastside submitted a drop song. I hope it isn't the same one I submitted. Mine is by Dr1010.

Tell me which ones better. I hope mine is.

EDIT: I just finished the stepfile for the song 6 by Dr1010. I plan on submitting it to FFR but would like to send it to some people that can test it. Perfer people that know how to test files or got files in game. Anyone?

lol, ive sent both in... but it was last batch...

dr0p got accpeted, but 6 was rejected for too many 4 framers.... i might restep it, but i like it too much how it is....

LOL, i know theyre the best, i LOVED the songs.... ive stepped 6, dr0p, SYNiC, and Vertex+i..... sent in the first three and had dr0p and SYNiC accepted... im wanting to step more from him as well

I've decided to make another batch of simfiles for the next batch.

File WIP:

Holy Orders - 60% (FMO or VC)
Speedcore Sunday - 30% (C or VC)
Border of Maximum - 100% (FMO maybe)
Lawn Wake I - 100% (FMO)
Scarlet in the Dream - 20% (C)
Lunar Dial - 21% (VC)
Destined Marionette - 8% (Not sure if I'll really finish this one)
Genophobia - 100% (T)
Michigan Boys Need - 100% (C)
Game Over - 100% (E) lol 5 seconds long
