So my dad has offered me plenty to drop out of school and go to work with him at his job [Construction, laying tiles, heavy duty shiz] Reason why is because one he pays his helpers way more money than he would pay me and two I cut school too much. Working Mon-Thur getting paid about $300 for 4 days doesn't sound so bad. I think I'll take his deal and get a GED some day.
These are the pros and cons I see. Pros: Money Great Work Out 4 days work, 3 days off Learn Professional Tile/Wood-Flooring Skills Cons: Wake up at about 5 and get home about 6 No Highschool Diploma 11th Grade Education Realizing Life Tell me what you think, because I care :} |

Uhh, stay in school.
You're 16, be a kid as long as possible. Or at least until you're out of highschool. Not that I can speak from experience but everyone I know that's dropped out of HS has regretted it for some reason or another.

ya, finish school, the find out what you want to do, make sure you have a back up plan.
ps, unless you dont do anything in school like me, then doing that is most likely the best option, ill most likely be in high school for 5 or 6 years =/ |

Worst thing I ever, EVER did was get out of college. I see now that the choice wasnt a good idea and now getting back will be a pain.

What you should do, is convicne him to let you stay in school and let you work part time, that way you get both.

Convince him to let you work part time, or find another job part time. Don't drop out of school. It may seem like a good idea now, but years down the road, you will regret it.

Finish -highschool- absolutely.
However, there's such a demand in general society these days to insist that everyone needs to go to college, that I find really strange. The general level of qualifications required to do a lot of jobs have increased over the past 20 years granted, and a lot of career paths require you to have a college diploma, but seriously, don't underestimate the benefit of learning a trade. Spending a year or two working for your dad to learn some basic practical skills in his trade would be both financially beneficial, and provide a useful and in demand skillset. Then if that trade is something you end up enjoying doing, take two years off and go get some certifications from a trade school. You'll be making way more than us academic college types, and probably have made enough from working for your dad to be able to afford it with no need for loans. But I would -for sure- either finish highschool, or work your ass off to be able to pass a highschool diploma granting test as soon as you possibly could. |

Finish Highschool. You won't regret getting an education. Work your ass off to graduate. It's not worth it to drop out. YOU SHOULD QUIT CUTTING CLASSES!!!! Shame, shame, shame on you!

You have plenty of time to get a crap job and/or mess your life up after high school. Why start early? I'd think even McDonald's would rather hire a person who finished high school over someone who didn't bother. It makes that person look irresponsible.
Another thing you should consider is that many people have a hard time getting a GED after dropping out, because they are too busy working their butts off to support themselves on "no diploma" pay. Some people just never get around to it. If that's the case, be prepared to work those kind of jobs for the rest of your life. I'm not saying it's not possible that things might work out for you, just that it's a stupid risk to take just so you can have some easy cash and work on building a hot bod. (Edit: no offense to anyone who works at McD's, or anyone who never finished school. I'm not trying to imply you are less than for doing what you must do to live.)
