i belive TRUE super smash bros player should be able to win in any stage(from final destination to the floating pokemons), items or without them(i have to admit this), and with any character (from pichu to whoever you think is the strongest) .but of course without the use of glitches

He means an all-around player, not one who can only play mano-a-mano.

My main point was to just say that all characters are good, but the advantages that characters over each other are what makes the tier list. All are good, but in comparison to others, some are bad =/. I'd say the most all-around smash player (in MLG) is Azen. That guy freaking plays everyone, and plays 'em all well @_@. And he's bad@$$ in teams. |

usually when i was going to play a little tournament with my friends and cousins we just let the characters get selected randomly (you know in tournament mode), that's how i discovered how good mario (also samus, link, mr game and watch, sheik, captain falcon, peach, mewtwo, and roy) can be. of course i sometimes lost but that's the best way to try and learn more about other characters....maybe we should do something like this in brawl (you know with all these new characters and everything) |

I agree with you, though. I can't acknowledge a person as being good at a game after seeing one thing they can do. Wow, you can dominate using your favorite character on your favorite stage with your set of rules. Can you dominate using a random character on a random stage with random rules at any given time? If not, then you're not good at the game.
When I play against others, I click on the random spot for character selection and let them choose the stage and rules. And like I said, I still haven't lost a match like this. I'll do it for Brawl too. Once I get used to it and all, of course. Today's update is in 2 hours. |

Here is some stuff confirmed by Gimpyfish at E for All: no wavedashing and no wavelanding airdodging is like how we predicted, just go with momentum, Fox can SH triple laser. Fox can jump out of shine, but it requires that you hold down and B, you can't let go or he'll go into a different animation, hold down and b and then jump. Bowser is hardcore. Claw is ridiculous Bowser will probably be top tier Up+B out of shield is same, just as powerful. Samus has a dark suit red visor, Fusion suit, Sonic costumes are recolors of blue, Fox has a starwolf outfit. Diddy Kong has Dixie Kong outfit without the hair, Bowser has a golden costume, made out of gold. Mario's fsmash is so slow, Samus can't missile cancel, animation doesn't stop, hard to do though. Bomb jumping is tough, hitting bombs not directly on top of them knocks you to the side. If you die as zero suit, you stay as zero suit, you can't automatically be zero suit like changing from Zelda to Sheik at the beginning of a round. Samus charged shot isn't strong, peach was shot with it fully charged at 87% didn't kill. Can catch edge even if you're facing wrong way, edgehogging is easy. Edgehogging will be the new edgeguard of choice, characters ‘click’ to it. Peach is nerfed. Peach’s dsmash is nerfed, no range Float canceling not sure Peach seems heavier Sonic, not as good as you expect moves don't have much knockback, kind of 'loose', all the new chars, he's least popular, hardest learning curve Do an aerial that has forward momentum and when you land it’s almost the same as a waveland. Certain moves / aerials have less friction/traction, DI is more pronounced, you can get out of stuff a lot easier, takes knockback easier, can survive until 150. L-canceling is not in as far as we can tell. How does the game feel: Feels slower, definitely, on classic, feels awkward, accidentally jump alot, can't SH on the wiimote, everyone is so floaty. Brawl plays really differently, it’s awkward for now because not used to it. Not a lot of lag for moves, maybe lag lowered for sake of demo. __________________________________________ At first, me and my friend Dac were kind of upset. But then I realized the changes that were made from SSB64 to Melee were just as drastic as the changes from Melee to Brawl. And we will still find a way to make it competitive. So, sometime in the near future, we decided, we are going to drink to Melee, and play it all night. Probably a week before Brawl comes out. Anyone want to do the same? |

i want to do the same. but the most important thing is NO WAVEDASH OR WAVELANDING OR THAT KIND OF STUFF *makes a party*
but we now can see why the game was delayed, though some things are like this because of the new physics (like peach being heavier). though some of the problems have some time to be (and will be ) repaired. but as far as i can imagine i don't think wavedash is coming back |

1) I love items. I told you before. I use them as feints.
2) Sweet. They removed wavedashing. I sincerely hope it's not just removed from an early release and manages to stay out of the final version. |

Items are fun. Doesnt mean they are hard to use. A pro can tap their c stick. Its easy. Wave dashing wasnt intended to be in melee. Its just a glitch. It probably will be fixed. Just like halo's bxr and double shots are fixed. Well they havent been discovered yet if there is another glitch.

not really, just grab them, use them or throw them, how to master them is another story, how to prevent that your oponent gets a hold of an item like a star or a heart , and if they do that, how to elminate the handicap the oponent got, how to set a trap in the right place at the right time, and since the game has tons of items, a lot of possible strategies.
why i am so obsessed? simple, because they are fun to play with, and they make the game more chaotic and fun. usually when i'm playing alone i play with items. when i'm with my friends, the winner of a tournament selects the rules for the next 5 battles however the first tournament is always without items (by the way i play with friends so tournaments are a must or loser out), then we make a tournament again, that's the way i play with my friends to keep the game always fresh. if they are so easy to use for you why you don't play with them? and if there is another glitch i bet the people from MGL will be the first ones to look for it, seriously , i hope the next glitch is something stupid like make your character go slower if you use it Last edited by zidart; 10-19-2007 at 01:34 AM.. |

so what? just because half of the world is using drugs right now doesn't mean i'm gonna start using them , besides i'm not in the smashboards but thanks for telling me to stay away from that place, but i guess it doesn't matter anymore because there is no wavedash in brawl yeah there is not.....you'll get over it Last edited by zidart; 10-19-2007 at 02:04 AM.. |
