It's been clear that my explanations for things have always been correct, even when the community's hasn't. Take some time to seriously consider some new strategies and practice them -- you *will* get better if you do it actively. Just playing over and over is not sufficient. After posting my tutorial vids, a ton of people AAA'd 100 B-Blackout, and even more people were finally able to PA rolls more effectively. People also were able to improve their ranks by not using music, which I have also strongly advocated.
Yea, i understand that your strategies DO help people and thats all good. I was just being sarcastic about the CP thing. I'm just saying that you didn't earn my respect because i never got a chance to know you as a new player and watch you get better and time went on. Thats all.

And since you wont make song vids anymore, is there anyway you could make a tutorial on doing better at running men for people that play spread-like the end of Klung Kung and stuff like that.

Well, rubix, about you never being wrong, I think you did say something that was wrong. You missed my point about when I said it wasn't fun without the music. The point was that I then think it's so boring that I'm like half asleep by the end of the song, and end up doing worse because of that, not that I got better scores but thought it was less fun anyway. Although, for those that don't think the game is already full of only way too slow songs and on the border of sleepiness to begin with, they probably would be better off without the music, b/c any song with jack syndrome isn't synched right so you have to hit the notes earlier than when the beat is. And, honestly, it seemed like the game was going slower to me without the music somehow.

I agree with doug. You NEED sound for some songs. Like hellbeat, where you can tell where to change from trills to jumps by listening to where the beat changes. It's how I SDG'd. It's hard to read those patterns because of the one noteskin, so you have to listen to where the song changes to know where to switch to jumps. There are other songs like frozen and goofy **** like takecore where the steps are so random if you're not actually listening to the music.

and yes it is smartdude

The game's speed doesn't depend on your speakers being on -- songs do seem slower though without music. This is purely psychological -- why do you think people tend to go all-out crazy with hard pressures and overexerted speeds on songs like Max300? If I put the same stepchart to really sissy, tinkly music, people wouldn't be going as crazy on it, nor would they find it as fast. People overcompensate in the wrong places. I mean if you get bored halfway through the song because there's no music, then that sucks -- but the reason why I advocate no music is because the FFR engine has limitations -- it's essentially putting notes within a 30-frame limit, and so things are not going to match up exactly. Playing visually instead of aurally will therefore restrict the potentially erroneous information and allow you to improve accuracy. Since your mind is "playing the music for you," it will sound "right" even if it's not matching up with the music perfectly, and this is what you want because the FFR engine is not perfect. You want to be able to rely on other factors -- NOT music.

It isn't "as fun," but playing without music is much better for accuracy. I actually find Takecore a TON easier without the music (mainly because if I go by the music, my hands want to hit notes that aren't there), and Hellbeat is easier without music because you learn to search for jumps versus trillsets visually, which also improves other scores.

tl;dr: Technically, just because someone gets bored without music doesn't make me wrong with respect to accuracy.

What Doug means is that while playing without music yields higher accuracy, it may decrease over time due to prolonged time without aural stimulation. The result might or might not be an actual drop in overall performance.

Right, I know what he's getting at -- but I'm saying, sometimes you don't *need* the aural stimulation to maintain accuracy. I mean, what works for some may not work for all, but I've found that, for me, it's helped a *lot*. I know it has worked for others as well. I don't think a few minutes of no stimulation is enough to induce boredom, although I admit, playing something like Pants without music can get to be a bit grating.

I get bored playing ANY song over 2:30 even with music. The 4 minute songs are torture and the longer they are the more of a chance I have to **** up near the end.

music helps for songs like tgwp because it is well-synced and has tons of variability in the bpm. music hurts for songs like frozen where the gap and bpm and pretty much everything is off.

Songs that are offbeat are the ones you can't have sound on (rondoV1 especially). The problem is, if you don't play a song with the music, and you know the song, then your brain tries to put music to it and takes up some of your attention span. (at least what I've noticed)
PS: epic score rubix.
