basically, if you think passing all the songs is amazing, you can be very good one-handed. if you think AAA'ing all the songs up to mid-masters-only level is amazing, you can play two-handed. whatever floats your vessel.

No no, I get exactly where you're coming from, and I understand that people who feel they are choosing to play in a more difficult way want to think there is a seperate set of skill levels for people who play that way, so you can be "The best one-hander" even if you're "The 5,000th best actual player of the game"

But virtually all one-handers I've seen on this site have made threads at one time or another saying something that boils down to:

"I know this isn't actually a good score, but I play one-handed, and we all know that one-handed is harder, so even though this isn't a good score, you should still shower me with adulation"

I started off playing one-handed. I saw all the threads and discussions about the reasons why spread makes many of the harder songs substantially easier, tried it out, and lo and behold, my skill improved -dramatically-

This is a game, a fun game. I don't find the idea of saying "I know that 40% of the songs I'll never get a good score on, and I cramp my hand up trying to do well on them, but dammit, if I get a reasonably good score this way, people will think of it as a better score" to be much fun.

I'd rather be able to play the songs, enjoy the music, and score well.

lol that makes perfect sense. and yeah its semi that reason. but i just think its cool to be able to move my hand that quickly. and i know that if i switch to 'spread' ill become oh so much better. but i want to be sure that ive reached my limit with one hand. i can FC a very difficult song. and that alone is enough to make me happy, i just want to see if i can FC a challenging song. however after that i dont know what ima do cause im pretty sure theres no way in hell that im going to be able to FC a master or guru song. so maybe when i hit there i'll try spread.

I recently went through the same thing. I didn't know if I wanted to switch to spread, so I tried it. I hated it. One handed is definately a major handicap, but it is the way that I like to play. Anyway, I rather become an impressive one handed player one day than sette as a mediocre spread.

XD Ouch. I got owned.... T.T

Edit: But seriously dude. I was only agreeing with you
"After 3 years of playing with one hand, I couldn't even hardly FC a Difficult song (and maybe I just sucked)."
No need to actually go out of your way to find everything about me that is bad and throw it back at me.
(Oh for ur information I've FC a ****load of songs. ohburn! <.< /sarcasm)

I don't flame, put down, or try to make people feel back in any way. I had a ****load enough of that on the last forum I was at. If you think I'm flaming, or putting you down, Your 100% wrong. (<.<. . .>.<) I've never put anyone down in my life. (Maybe 5 or 6 but thats it.)

"Don't worry, bombom bom bom bombom bom bom bombom bom bom bombom be happeh!"

what devonin is trying to say is that in the end of the day both mediocre spread players and one handed players get the same score based on how good they are, no matter how hard either tries.

THAT was the whole point of that post, yet you somehow managed to point out the part where you thought I sucked? By the way, nice best AAA there, Mr. Mocha Ocean, I AAAed Horizon one handed, so you don't get to talk about other people sucking anymore, Mr. 5000 average rank.
Hehe, I AAA'd Horizon too, and I've only been playing for a year, so...yea...you did kind of suck...

Example of possible one handed scores EX. These were some of my best one-handed scores.

This score right here is probably the best one-handed AAA to date.

and other things

if your interested, theres more in here

I don't want to overtake the thread, But I wanted to make a point, It is possible to be really good one handed, but it takes a ton of practice, a flat keyboard so you can slide, and possibly some form of lubrication.

Oh and whoever was being an asshole about getting an sdg on 20031023, I had 13-0-0-4 one handed. It is possible. But devonin is right, the best one-handed players, will only achieve the skill of the average spread player.

You get a ****load of cool point for playing one-handed (and doing it well), but that doesn't take goods off the final score.

so i realized after you had in the 1.25x speed things become a bit easier. i FC'd a few other songs today after i made that small change. and if i were looking to switch to spread how do i bind keys to the arrows instead?

[sorry for the double post]

Yeah, one handing takes lots of patience and practice.. It's been about 1½ years now I can only get Challenge FCs and Some Very-Challenging.. AAA'ing Maple Leaf Rag is accomplishing enough.. Too bad I got a black flag on it..

P.S. Use the "Edit" Button if you want to say more.

You can take your pick of Auto HotKey or FFR Keymap

I personally prefer the latter.

Flow! What up dude it's Taylor I just decided to get on the forums for once and I found your thread, so i thought i'd say hi. As for the topic I don't like using spread, I don't want anyone to take this offensively but I think it's kinda cheap seeing as there isn't a way to remap keys in the game itself, so I'd rather use the arrows, I play index myself, you can be good at anything if you play enough.
