Those secret government areas are there for good reasons.
It keeps out spys. It keeps the media from knowing something and then creating mass hysteria. It creates an containment zone for any radioactive tests or dangerous tests. How much of the public would freak out if the government started testing nuclear fission in the middle of LA? How much of it would be hyped up by the media to terrify the public? How much sensitive material could be stolen by a spy? If the government needs to test something, then they need a place to do it freely, if something blows up in Area 51, then there are no casualties. All that dangerous science that could create a breakthough has to be tested somewhere. |

Anyway, Cenright has made the most sense so far, this country could use more technology and weapons and whatnot but they're not going to publicize everything because there are spies everywhere. (ok maybe I'm a little paranoid.) |

Well... spies are not exactly a major tactic used by many countries anymore. They were used during the cold war, with CIA agents spying Russia and KGB agents spying the U.S, but other than that, it's kinda outdated. However, it is not good to publicize it on the media too much anyway because then government officials from other countries can hear it, and even worse, terrorists can hear it to and know what they will have to counter against. I agree with Cenright that these government labs are useful.

First of all the whole we didn't land on the moon thing was made up by a bunch of people who have way to much time on their hands. Its like saying the CIA invented AIDS and infected people to kill off all homosexuals and yes i have heard that. Area 51 really doesn't matter to me all that much because i really don't need to know the next weapon that could possibly destroy the earth but i have seen shows about it and i always found them to be interesting. I also agree that our country (the U.S) hasn't always done the right thing but no country is perfect. Sorry if i am jumping around alot but i am trying to give my opinion on quite a few topics.

Once you get into area 51, I bet it's just your average military base, only maybe a few years ahead of the others. The real secrets are probably in Antarctica or something.
