9/17/07*** Final Fantasy 7 Remake!! Confirmedd

So I guess I need to go ahead and play the first FF7 now.....

Guys, just cuz you sell a lot of games doesn't mean you're a good company or that your games are good. Just look at EA. Horrible company. Horrible watered down versions of what should be good games. Just horrible. Yet people still buy their ****. >=(

You're missing the point. He's saying that if some other company (other than square) made a nearly exact copy of FF7 (but didn't call it FF7 or name the characters and things the same) and released it today that people would think it was horrible. Even update the graphics and people would be like psh that sucks. Then again it's kinda a bad arguement, since just about any game from those days would be hated these days. The arguement is only against them releasing the exact same game, which is probably what they'll do (and probably what everybody wants them to do).

Honestly though, I don't see what FF7 did that was so great. Some of the story was kinda funny, which was nice, but I've heard that basically every other RPG has better story and is funnier and awesomer. As far as gameplay, what was new about it? ATB was a FF thing from long before 7. The materia thing.....well you can't just release a game with the same skill system as everybody else. They change skill systems every game in the FF series, so saying that materia was a big deal is like saying that Halo having different guns than CS is a big deal.

Honestly, the only things people ever rave about when it comes to FF7 are 1) Graphics, 2) Story, and 3) Materia. Graphics are a natural advancement, that's not innovation. Plus it wasn't the first 3D game or even the first 3D RPG, so whatever. The story was...well, maybe good for it's time, I dunno, but other things have come out with much better stories. And materia I already talked about, they had to make that special. I dunno, it wasn't a TERRIBLE game, especially compared to other FF games, but honestly now, was it really that great? =\

its obvious you dont like EA.... lol.... but if theyre selling alot, wouldnt you think that the majority of the buyers would think the opposite of this?

well, IF a game came out now thats basically the same, there would be more than that judgement.... sure, people would think its bad, but not EVERYONE.... some would LOVE it, especially if they loved FF7.... others would think it sucks because it was too similar to FF7 (provided both were released; if FF7 was never released, and then this hypothetical game was, i think it would still get some recognition, the amount varying on who released it....)

not from what ive played... then again, all ive played is FF .... i think FF7 has the best story.... its my opinion, and you have yours

ATB wasnt new, but i think what made materia a little more special than just a skill system is how it related to the storyline, with the Mako and how if they continued to use it, it would drain the worlds energy....

other FF games dont have a skill system that connects to the story like that, from what ive played....

Well, I don't care for FF debates.

I don't see how the hell this game was "confirmed", if anything, it's just increased speculation.

Regardless, I've never played FF7. I tried, but I can't get past the lego-esque graphics when I try playing it today. Maybe if they updated it so it was bearable to look at, I'd get it.


Oh wait I need a PS3 first.

seems like a completely unfounded argument. I've heard about so much anticipation for a remake from a humongous fanbase that, since it's taken so long for this to happen, it seems to me like Squeenix was reluctant to go through with this. sure final fantasy 7 was not very innovative, but seriously a game doesn't really need to be innovative to be good.

but anyway a remake is not what im looking for, i want more sequels xD (but please no more dirge of cerberus, and no more psp games)

FF7 really isn't the 'quintessential RPG' everyone claims for it to be. Sure, it was probably your first RPG, first 3D RPG or first game, whatever, but even before FF7, there were games of much higher quality already released (Chrono Trigger and FF6, anybody?).

If Square wants to remake an FF game, remake FF9. >:

Why would they remake 9? That game was an open and shut storyline.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, personal opinions don't dictate business, mass appeal and popular demand do. Just because you didn't like 7 (I've never beat it myself, always get kinda bored), doesn't mean enough people wouldn't enjoy a remake or sequel.

EDIT: Also, there is no confirmation of a sequel. There aren't even any hints. Especially not in the link you provided, and the links that they went to.

That "Secret ending" video from Crisis Core was an already-made video to show off the graphics of the PS3, and spurned remake talks back then.

There might be a remake in the works, but this is certainly not proof of it.

Out of the whole 3d era of FF games. FF9 was my least favorite. And the only one I have yet to beat, because of lack of motivation. It just seemed way to much fantasy based for me. Tails, rats characters, I just didn't like it all that much. Sure too much fantasy in final fantasy seems impossible right? lol but all the other 3d final fantasy's are much more realistic than 9.

The video found at the end of the PSP game, Crisis Core is not the exact video shown at e3 years ago. The execution is slightly different, Cloud has some dialog, and the entire thing is expanded. Watch it and see

Square enix likes the date 9/17 for some reason. First Kingdom Hearts 1 is released on that day, then this gets on teh internet on 9/17, and also in 2003 i made my first ffr account here on 9/17 hahahaha. Plus that day is also my brothers birthday, It was also the day I got a PS2 and Kingdom hearts 1 as my first PS2 game =o. Lol this is really weird.

Same reason they remade the first six: To make money off of fanboys.

Sure, they could draw in more people with 7, but seriously, do we need more fanboy fodder? I would rather them work on something different than remakes, myself. Like maybe try putting some effort into making the Mana series good again.

I don't hate them, I just don't like them as much. I'll buy whatever game square enix puts out =O I already have the dawn of manas, dragonquest, kingdom hearts, valkryie profile, star ocean, and every final fantasy game released after 7. I shall not fail in my quest in ultimate SE ownerage.

All except FF11. It's a MMO and I just don't do p2p.
