Vista vs. XP
Which one would be better for playing FFR? I heard from some that Vista is pretty bad, but I just want to know how playing on a Vista is bad. I don't want too much computer talk, I really just want to know how it'll effect my game. We have an XP that needs to be repaired. When that's done, would that be a better choice than the Vista?

Re: Vista vs. XP
If your pc is kind of low end e.g kind of old then vista will probably make your pc slow which
could in turn affect your ffr performance. I would stick with xp but that is my opinion.

Re: Vista vs. XP
It has messed up graphics.
During game play, the arrows appear to be slow and then half way it starts rushing. |

Re: Vista vs. XP
Vista is much more demanding on your PC and you'd require at least 2GB of RAM to run your PC properly. It is still accompanied by bugs and many of the older technologies no longer work on Vista. That being said, XP is less demanding on your PC. I'm not saying Vista wont run FFR properly, but your chances are much better if you go with XP.

XP is better for playing FFR than Vista. Vista has too much lag.

Re: Vista vs. XP
What is happening is Microsoft is taking the necessary actions to try and completely wipe out XP and monopolize with Vista. Buying XP copies off stores and forcing them to sell Built PCs with Vista installed on it, for example. I'm not sure if it's still available, but if you ordered a computer off of Dell you could have the option of XP or Vista.
But all of this is off this guy's topic. As of now I'm pretty sure more people have sent in complaints about Vista causing them lag issues or flash errors, etc than problems directly related to XP(see Doug31 and freakysnots' entries for examples). Also, he never posted his comp specs so that could be a good idea because he might need to upgrade his machine if he goes with Vista(so that other non FFR related activities go smoothly). Re: Vista vs. XP
XP will run Flash better on mostly all computers. Even with a high-end PC, on Vista with FireFox you'd still notice a slight slow-down.
With XP, however, you have very good performance. |

Re: Vista vs. XP
Regardless of computer specs, Vista will most likely noticeably lag FFR to a point that it hinders gameplay.

Re: Vista vs. XP
Vista doesn't work well with flash.
It slows down and speeds up making it impossible to play 1.50x or higher. I have like two or three threads about it... |

Vista is going to run much slower on a slower machine . To help speed up vista you can switch everything to classic view (this will give slower computers quite a boost) there has been updates to flash. They changed the core way vista runs (it doesnt run like xp the kernal has changed) this is why Vista has Directx 10 and xp won't have it. |

Re: Vista vs. XP
I'm sure there must be something either FFR or Flash or both could do to make it more compatible with Vista and not "lag", but for now it's true what other people have said, FFR "lags" and slows down on Vista no matter what your computer.
Vista's an excellent OS, just not for FFR. |
