The Fire and Reason, they've covered pretty much every rock subgenre there is so far, aside from metal and ska. A lot of their stuff is electronic, too, so it's like a big uber-sexfest of awesome happening in your ears. I'm super-cereal. Julien-K is still touring with Projekt:Revolution right now, and for good reason--my GOD, are they amazing. 2 of the former members of Orgy (also an excellent band, I've heard) with 2 new guys, though almost an inverse of Orgy--instead of a rock band with electronic influence, they see themselves more as an electronic band with rock influences. I seriously think these guys are gonna make it big soon, I remember first hearing their work on Sonic Heroes ("THIS MACHINE") and Shadow the Hedgehog ("Waking Up"), and only to rediscover them made me very happy in several different ways. They even do remixes, the likes of Mindless Self Indulgence and Avenged Sevenfold included. Jump on board now before everybody else is doing it. If you don't mind Hip-hop, but not necessarily rap, then DJ Shadow is the perfect man for the job. His older stuff is most oftenly more trip-hop than regular hip-hop, and ambient and such, too, but yeah, he's got a very distinct electronic background, and if you've ever heard of Cut Chemist and liked him, then you'll love DJ Shadow. Yarrr. System of a Down. You know who they are. So go listen to them. Buy it, don't steal it. AC/DC. The best thing to ever come from Down Under, IMO. Great, great, great, fantastic band. And, I hear they are working on a new album. Careful, AC/DC, you might shock the world into oblivion with too much sonic ass-whoopin'. In closing, listen to these artists, actually buy their music, and don't use Limewire. Using Limewire is like having a circle-jerk at an AIDS clinic with paper cuts all over your body.

Secondly, **** that. If it's a small artist that doesn't make a **** ton of money through recording contracts, please don't download their music. But if 90% of the money is going to some multi-million dollar corporation then **** that. The artists have all the money they need to live and keep playing music.

Well, excuse me for caring about the well-being of her HDD. No one wants a hard drive with AIDS, now do they? Seriously, Limewire is just begging for trouble, leaving your front door not only unlocked but also open, along with your garage. BitTorrent is way safer, anyways, I haven't gotten a virus or even anything at all more than what I've asked for by using it, though this may have something to do with the fact that I've almost never used it for illegal purposes (damn you to Hell, Reason!!!...).

My bad, I misinterpreted what you said. I thought you were trying to say something about the "moral issue" (rofl) of downloading music.
For the record I use a bit-torrent program along with an Invite to OiNK. ![]() Anyway, another band I suggest the thread starter to listen to is Yesterdays Rising. Might open you up to a whole new genre group of music: The Cores (Post-Hardcore, Metalcore, Hardcore, ect.). Most people I've met who say they only like "rock", when I tell them to listen to Yesterdays Rising they start to like a lot more kinds of music.

I usually don't recomend more alternative stuff, usually its metalcore ( thankyou Dragula 219 for clearing this up for me). But:
Funeral for a Friend-get thier newer album, "Tales Dont Tell Themselves" Red Hot Chili Peppers-any song is good Rage Against the Machine-"Killing in the Name Of" is my favorite AFI-"Miss Murder", "Affliction", "The Missing Frame" AC/DC-start off with "Hells Bells" and "You Shook Me All Night Long" Bullet For My Valentine-"No Control", any song from thier album, "The Poison" Breaking Benjamin-"Diary of Jane", "Sooner of Later", "So Cold" are a couple of good songs to start you out with. |

Scooter- Anything..
Mustard Plug- Evildoers Beware! VNV Nation- Your pick. Strung Out- Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues I know you said no rap or hip hop, but really, check them out..Binary Star and Immortal Technique. All of them are fairly accessible so it's not much to worry about.

Underground rap generally tends to be that way. Hardcore. Scooter, Scooter is pretty hit-or-miss with people, I've noticed; that, and people get tired of their crazy German MC fairly quickly. VNV Nation, I hadn't heard of them(?) until I picked up MSI's Another Mindless Rip Off (Hot Topic exclusive, BLECH, but still damn good EP), and their remix of "What Do They Know?"....yeah, not so much. It's really unmelodious-sounding to me, that synth bass. Maybe I just can't "appreciate" that sort of thing or whatever, but it just really seems to clash with Jimmy Urine's (*snicker*) vocals at times.Scooter and IT, though? Approved.

I disagree about Julien-k.
I saw them live, and I didn't like them at all, but I'm going to check out their recordings soon and see if they are decent. MSI Should "NEVER" be redone, They are one of those bands you shouldn't try to cover, you'd just be disgracing the original band. Like Steve Perry, Freddy Mercury, Matthew Bellehew, ect. Although MSI murdered Rush's Tom Sawyer. :/ Good music, Well. Rock... Vocal...Muse, Mindless Self Indulgence, Journey... Instremental...Joe Satriani, Andy Timmons, Steve Vai. Electronic...Flashbulb, Aphex Twin, Origa(kinda...). R&B...Earth Wind & Fire....duh |

But I agree, MSI is not even close. MSI isn't even that good IMO. Nothing revolutionary.

Haven't even HEARD of that third band, heh. MSI is kind of revolutionary, what with their unbelievably distinct "industrial jungle pussy punk" signature style and everything, there's really no other band that I can think of that sounds anything like them.
