Oh, I was so mad. Competency 14 deals with how organisms maintain homeostasis, and I specifically remember being REALLY ANNOYED with the wording of the homeostasis questions. Like, all of them had at least two answers that could fit the question asked. Grr.
Diversity of Life competencies are (PS: I didn't know what the competencies were until I got my score report -- last semester when I should have been meeting with a Science content instructor I was put with the Math Teaching Associates, so I learned about the Math content exam): 12: The teacher understands similarities and differences between living organisms and how taxonomic systems are used to organize and interpret the diversity of life. 13: The teacher understands that, at all levels of nature, living systems are found within other living systems, each with its own boundaries and limits. 14: The teacher understands the processes by which organisms maintain homeostasis. 15: The teacher understands the relationship between biology and behavior. PS: We teach evolution in Texas and get on with our lives, and usually the kids find it really interesting once they realize we're not here to destroy God. |
