![]() I heard about using two hands, and have tried it. it's like driving automatic with your left and right foot at the same. but I do feel it's important for the very difficult and up levels.

![]() Use two hands, two fingers each. It's good because over time you start to mentally map a given finger to a respective arrow. Playing this way makes it all much more braindead -- spread/fourfinger will cover the vast majority of stepfiles, whereas something like index requires more "creativity" with its execution. I advocate two-hands-four-fingers because I feel it best allows people to gain skill.
Thus, playing this way will most likely yield the largest jumps in improvement. How do you think players are able to handle insane loads of jumpstream? Many players don't even have to think too hard -- it becomes reflexive. Your fingers just move when the arrow is there -- you ideally want to get to that point. Then, couple that reflex with focus for improved accuracy. Other than that, practice. Learning to drum also gives you many advantages, especially in maintaining rhythm and steady motion. Get a good keyboard that won't shake and rattle and force you to use too much effort. Light tapping is oftentimes more effective, accurate, less tiring, easier on your keyboard, and you are able to hit more notes more quickly because you aren't wasting energy and time pounding a key excessively hard. I recommend playing files that have lots of stream in order to learn how to read and get the reflexes down. Then play things with lots of jumps in a row to get the reflexes for jumps. Then do songs that combine the two, and then slowly do harder and harder songs containing jumpstream. It sounds obvious, but if you progress in this manner, you'll find yourself doing much better than simply whoring out songs with random methods and no real direction. It's nice to plan out your methods for improvement by focusing on what you do well on and what you need to improve. Personally, this was my progression in terms of milestones (I started with DDR and migrated to SM): Paranoia, B4U light, B4U standard, B4U Heavy, Boom Boom Dollar KOGG, Paranoia Rebirth, Dead End, Max 300 heavy (never bothered with the other difficulties, this song is great for learning how to read), Bemaniruler's V (this song helped me IMMENSELY with reading and general accuracy and taught me the value of four-finger playing), Bemaniruler's A to learn faster tapping, and from then on just harder and harder songs such as Reality and Genocide, etc. It's all a process you can break down and improve upon. Playing one-handed is very common amongst newbs, but most decent players play with both of their hands. Note how I said "most", as some one-handers are very good.
