no one is jealous of his finger speed. FFR requires no particularly difficult physical exertion of the fingers. (such as the jacks and speed songs of SM) if people are jealous of anything, it's the alleged accuracy.

What boggles me is that the SM community's general skill level has elevated to a point where AAAA's are more common, and people's MA/PA has become drastically better, but then they go back on this very logic. Those who can achieve such scores in SM know that FFR is cake, where the timing windows are much more lenient. AAA's are quite easy to come by in FFR unless there are too many jacks that throw things off. Are most people here strictly FFR players who have never even played Stepmania?

I'm basically one of them, I never play SM.

Haha, throw on something like Gigadelic Oni or Disregard in FFR and see how people take stepcharts with a little more bite and speed to them

Or MSWGO, if anyone's heard of it.

almost all top players have played SM. a majority of them play SM regularly. seems to me that the SM community views FFR as a pool of noobs, though, the way the people disrepectfully post about it here.

edit: OF COURSE FFR players have heard of Disregard, Gigadelic, and MSWGO and played a LOT of SM. it takes SM to make an FFR person have good PA, IMO. Don't make the assumption, Rubix, that "none of the FFR players have ever even touched SM," because that would be stupid. what you would be doing is taking evascythe's blind assumption (he's not one of the top players, but top players who actually analyze your skills like smartdude and me play a lot of SM) and applying it to everyone here. we're not all noobs who think a good SM player can't do well on FFR, so don't start to ridicule this site like that, okay?

EDIT: To the former, not the latter. I would not say FFR players are noobs. I would argue, however, that SM gives one an advantage.

Oh, most certainly, of course -- but the fact that "Lots of people find this site and don't even know what Stepmania is" just surprised me a little, but really I guess it is a logical and probably very correct assertion.

it surprised me, too. it would surprise me if ANYONE who is a regular here had not heard of SM, because the addition of songs into FFR completely depends upon SM.

i knew you would come here and say that >____< i was like o crap he doesn't play, but he is seriously one of the only exceptions. i only brought his name up because he calls BS on you. he is one of the few that actually whores FFR to gain arrow-hitting skills, though.

That's what confuses me though. If they've played SM and are as good as they claim, then I don't see why they'd find FFR so hard to excel at. It just doesn't make sense.

Ledwix: It's not that I find people who don't believe me immature, it's that their form of argument is extremely lacking. Just a pet peeve of mine. It *really* bothers me when people try to make objective conclusions about potential from ignorant and/or incomplete notions.

for example, a really suspicious scores thread would have 20 people just saying "bs" but 2 or 3 really long MrRubix "this post is my ****in thesis paper" posts explaining why it's BS. i'm only taking the time to type this because 50% of your posts by now must be "I'm not BS, you're immature!
