I think the 2nd ones gonna fail. They pretty much just pulled a random plot out of their ass, as they will do to just make more money.

uggggghhhhh..... i hate the movie!!!! the songs get in your head so easily too.... my class did a movie and i sucked big time. im pretty sure the teacher was the only one who thought it was good. my parents even left once the part i did was over.

This is not great as far as musicals go, what with all the incredible classics out there. It would be labeled as moderately okay by anybody I know who takes interest in musical performances.
The songs are catchy, but mainly because they're the types that get stuck in your head: upbeat and bouncy. They are also repetitive though, not to mention they become extremely tiresome when every person in your school is hilariously obsessed with singing them, listening to them, and setting them as their ringtone.
I'd pretty much take ANY other musical over this one.
PS Ashley Tisdale's singing is so very annoying.

Whatever gets the girls, rarely guys, jumping? I watched it because I was bored. Horrible. Just horrible. I will tip the TV over if I see HSM2 being watched!

I said it way, way back. It's because it promotes the idea that it is okay to be yourself, that people are accepting, everyone should see eye to eye, romance is cool. And it does it with catchy songs that kids can relate to.

THAT'S what the fuss is about.

Some of the girls are pretty hot though. And it's nowhere near as bad as that cheetah girl movie.

I remember Movie day, and it was down to High School Musical or Are we There Yet? High School Musical won by 1 VOTE.

I would be more inclined to say that the performance is a propagandist movement designed to shelter the viewers that Disney is targeted to. I'm not saying high school is a brutal, dog-eat-dog world or a microcosm of something bigger, but people give you strange looks if you're not wearing the right clothes or something similar.

I couldn't really see what the point was of the movie. Ashley Tisdale's obnoxious voice kept me from enjoying it. The only musical I've ever liked was Avenue Q.

The only reason this stupid musical got popular is probably because first of all, it came from Disney, second, little 10 year olds who don't know a rat's ass about high school life thought is was cool.
