Uhhh.... WHAT?

While I admire your attempt to keep it simple, you over did it by just a wee bit.

This whole thing that Christians and such have against pornography is simply another attempt to force their own opinions on other people.

So here's how I see the Biblical Perspective on opinion-forcing:

God gave Man ~free will~.

Not just Man the species, but man the singular organism.
Every single human being on this planet has the GOD GIVEN RIGHT to make his/her own mistakes, and also to deal with the consequences.

By attempting to force your, (Imho), ~irrational~ views on others, you are attempting to violate their FW.

Of course, I understand the whole, "If someone were on the train tracks and a train was coming, wouldn't you push them off?" logic that seems to be implanted upon Baptism, but chances are, the person on the tracks is gonna hear, see, and feel the train coming before he's in any real danger.

Porn is a safe, healthy way to fulfill a ~biological imperitive~.

At least once every 2 weeks or so, the male body has to get rid of sperm, in order to make way for newer sperm. And unfortunately, its either coming out when you masturbate, or during a "nocturnal emission". (wet dream)

Now, I don't know about you people out there, but ~I~ don't enjoy waking up in the middle of the night.

Women of course, don't have this issue, they have Menstruation, which is alot worse IMO.

But honestly, if you could choose when that would happen, wouldn't you?

Just like menstruation, ejaculation has to happen. We have no choice in the matter, however, it happens to feel pretty damn good for us. ^_^ (FyI ladies, for alot of men, wet dreams DON'T feel good, they can actually be pretty damn painful.)

Once again I've said my piece, and its time for me to watch some Dr.Who!

~+~Moo~+~

Counter-point: Attempting to subjugate someone else's will to your own is part of exercising your free will. The question isn't whether they are trying to force their opinion on you (They are, and that is their right as a free-thinking human to try if they want to, just as it is your right as a free-thinking human to resist that attempt) it is a question of whether you have a strong enough will to resist that will being supplanted.

No no, you don't understand. The proper course for humanity is to resist every urge, refuse to fulfill every appetite. That way, when you are eventually married and allowed to indulge in the act provided it is for the right reasons, you can have built it up so much in your mind that even if you and your partner weren't both completely uneducated and ignorant of how the process ought to work, there's no way it could possibly live up to the image. That way, you will be so disappointed by the experience that it will be all the easier to only ever engage in it as a duty to procreate instead of enjoying it.

(In case you didn't notice, the above response was tongue firmly in cheek)

*sigh*...

im not giving in to your opinions at all, but you are entitled to them. i was just stating mine and people gave me crap for it. if you like porn, fine. thats your opinion. i highly, highly disagree with it, but you live your life, i'll live mine. i was just saying why i think its wrong, because i am able to say what i want.

for nonreligious people, i dont see how i could even explain this without being godly because its part of who i am. i just believe its wrong because its what God says in the Bible, and i believe in Him, and i'm following what He says -- BUT ya'll already know that and will just get pissed at me for saying that so i'll just shut up about it.

everyone is sinful. men and women.
i know that.
im not stupid.
im not saying that guys are worse than girls at all, because we are all human, we're all the same. but, yes, true statement devonin -- everyone does sinful things. but we were born sinful. we have no choice but to sin because of it. [i wont go any farther in that because im being all godly again...]
..actually.. i dont care.
we were born sinful because we're human. humans are low, dirty, sinful creatures. its the truth. we are sinful no matter what we do. but God is willing to forgive us of it. and all this suffering and sin and madness? He sent His only son to die for us because He loves us so much and wants to free us of this.

God didnt make porn, He gave us the chance to let it happen. He knew it would happen actually, which is something i still dont understand, but the sinful human nature thats in us gets constantly tempted by satan and if you follow it, it makes us do what we do -- men and women, boys and girls, children of all ages. otherwise we would be perfect, holy, blameless, and utterly pure beyond any stretch of the imagination! [sounds pretty to me]

God definitely gave us free will as stated before, but theres only two paths - fork in the road. one sign reads "sin", and though the road may look wider and better, its only temporary. like porn - its only temporary satisfaction. then it just leaves you empty. but the other sign reads "God". though the path may look rougher and narrower, its only because our struggles pull us closer to God -- if we allow it.

this is the world as we know it [no FFRpun intended], isnt it?
*sigh*

and i would ask that you stay off my back about all my personal issues. alright, it was stupid on my part to throw them in there, but i just got thinking and thats what came up. sorry for your 'inconveniences'...
and so i made a few mistakes with my replies. SORRY...[geez]

i dont even know what else to say except that i do honestly apologize to anyone i offended. hopefully you'll accept it.

This is a forum for -discussion- and -debate- not mutual airing of opinions so we can all stand around and marvel at how different our opinions are. If you will refuse to even begin to consider the possibility that you might be wrong, CT isn't the place for you (And that's the general 'you' not you specifically)

And especially here in CT we're allowed to address the reasoning behind what you say, and expect you to do us the respect of addressing any objections we may lodge with your reasoning.

If we were perfect, we would be God were we not? We cannot be perfect if we are ever seperate and distinct entities from God, lest we become the equals of God, and I haven't met many christians who would consider such a concept.

"You have the choice between doing exactly what I tell you, or facing eternal damnation in the fires of hell" That isn't free will, that's Argumentum Ad Baculum, and I assess God -5 points for the fallacy.

It's hard deal with and disturbingly appealing , but it really is morally wrong IMO. You don't even have to put it in religious perspective. Christians aren't trying to force their opinion on other people, there are just some who are actively fighting against what they think is wrong (think of Anti-Iraq protesting).

Anyways the basis of what I believe is.. if you have any single friend thats a girl, then how would you not think that porn is wrong?

That's more accurate in terms of what people try to preach

If someone reacts in an inappropriate way that would make you consider not logging in again, they will certainly have broken rules and will be punished, so you don't have to leave.

If however, you just can't bear to have your opinions opposed with objections, and be obliged to address those objections with supported evidence, then I think you may be right that leaving CT is the better course.

Man was created in “God’s image.” (Ge 1:26, 27) He, like all other created things, existed and was created because of God’s will. (Re 4:11) God’s assigning work to him showed that man was to serve God’s purpose on earth. (Ge 1:28; 2:8, 15) According to the inspired apostle, man was created to be both “God’s image and glory” (1Co 11:7), hence to reflect the qualities of his Creator, conducting himself so as to reflect the glory of God. As God’s earthly son, man should resemble, or be like, his heavenly Father. To be otherwise would be to contradict and reproach the divine parenthood of God.—Compare Mal 1:6.

Sin, however, mars man’s reflection of God’s likeness and glory; it makes man unholy, that is, unclean, impure, tarnished in a spiritual and moral sense.—Compare Isa 6:5-7; Ps 51:1, 2; Eze 37:23

For a correct Bible understanding of perfection, one must not make the common error of thinking that everything called “perfect” is so in an absolute sense, that is, to an infinite degree, without limitation. Perfection in this absolute sense distinguishes only the Creator, [YHWH] God. God is incomparable in his excellence, worthy of all praise, supreme in his superb qualities and powers, so that “his name alone is unreachably high.” (Ps 148:1-13; Job 36:3, 4, 26; 37:16, 23, 24; Ps 145:2-10, 21)

Perfection of any other person or thing, then, is relative, not absolute. (Compare Ps 119:96.) That is, a thing is “perfect” according to, or in relation to, the purpose or end for which it is appointed by its designer or producer, or the use to which it is to be put by its receiver or user. The very meaning of perfection requires that there be someone who decides when “completion” has been reached, what the standards of excellence are, what requirements are to be satisfied, and what details are essential. Ultimately, God the Creator is the final Arbiter of perfection, the Standard-Setter, in accord with his own righteous purposes and interests.—Ro 12:2

God’s intelligent creatures are granted free moral agency, the privilege and responsibility of making a personal decision as to the course they will take. (De 30:19, 20; Jos 24:15) It is evident that this was the case with the first human pair, so that their devotion to God could be subject to test. (Ge 2:15-17; 3:2, 3) As their Maker, YHWH knew what he wanted of them, and from the Scriptures it is clear that he wanted, not an automatic, virtually mechanical obedience, but worship and service that sprang from hearts and minds motivated by genuine love. (Compare De 30:15, 16; 1Ch 28:9; 29:17; Joh 4:23, 24.) If Adam and his wife had lacked the ability to choose in this matter, they would not have met God’s requirements; they would not have been complete, perfect, according to his standards.

He was responding to [TeRa], not you. Though considering you agreed with [TeRa], ("yeaaap, pretty much") it seems like you too are saying "I don't want to say anything because everyone will be against me." I would recommend being clearer next time.

EDIT: I've had to edit this thing five times already because of accidentally omitting words, screwing up the quote tag, etc. Wow.

The VAST MAJORITY of my friends are female. I have never regretted looking at porn. It hasn't harmed me at all(I think it actually opened me up a bit), and it's really enjoyable. Should we stop eating food just because we enjoy that too, even though it helps us a lot more than it hurts us?

Well it's fair that you're standing by your opinion, but you have to at least consider other peoples' opinions...

I change my opinion on things all of the time if I get a good enough reason. The reason I ask for why you believe what you do is so I can see things differently and improve how I view things.

BMS - Got banned 4 years ago for asking a question about they're token system, when we had to use credits to get video's and stuff, and we got those from signing on and posting online...never bothered to go back, because they were so mean =(

ODI - They called my really good friend Kendall (Kepogata) B.S. and they wouldn't believe anything he said, and no matter what he did, they just kept calling him B.S., So i decided to stand up for him knowing he's not B.S., but they're gay and they pretty much starting bitching at both of us, so then I decided to never sign on again cause they were being so gay about it, and Kepo wound up quitting SM
(p.s. devonin, yes in this cause, i should have never signed in again, tsutter was the one who started the thread , and he is the owner of the site, so he really cant ban himself, plus im pretty sure ODI has no rules...)

Yep, I've learned my lesson, don't give and opinion in a forum because nobody cares what I have to say, lesson is if you're ME, don't give your opinion in a forum.

I feel that I just need to explain my reason for not responding.

So are you comfortable with your female friends knowing that you look at porn? If you say yes though I really have no other response because that's really as far as my point goes haha. Not really too intellectual or deep.

LOL KEPOGATA. That's the reason why I think ODI is so funny actually (not that i thought he was bs). I got called BS on about as much or more than he was and I just laughed at it and moved on because it was still some of the funniest stuff I'd ever seen on forums

Well, then don't.

It's your choice.

There are TONS of times when I read things and consider giving my opinion but I just decide not to.

But posting about not giving your opinion is kinda picking a halfway point, and halfway points don't work too well.
