Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
I don't know about you guys but I've been pumping up commerce, security and transportation like mad the past few days.
I'll have to remind Tass, but when the population link goes up on the front page, we won't be able to keep up with the amount of clicks adding to unemployment, crime, and lack of transportation. We need to stock these stats up. Even if there's no visible improvement, it will mean we can deal with a larger and faster population increase without suffering. I suggest everyone focuses on pumping up these three stats, and I will work on getting the link on the front page. |

Ok, I've been following the thread, for the most part, clicking more that posting. I've just recently switched from industry to commerce as suggested. But yeah, anything else I should be doing?

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
We are planing to come up with a list of usable proxies to make our proxy work more efficent.
So besides that keep up the clicks on the non-pop stats.

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
Yes. That's effectively what I'm saying. our stats for, say, security are stored away somewhere. (ie 362 clicks for security) and somewhere else in their little computer they do a little operation like (each click allows for 5 crime-less poulation, so 1810 population is 'crime-less' additional population goes towards crime, so if the pop is 2000, the crime percentage would be Max((2000-1810),0)/2000 = 0.095 = 1%. You can keep increasing that value 1810 all you want, it doesn't disappear anywhere, it's an ongoing stat like population that will persist and keep this percentage low for a while as population tries to catch up.
Now while all those may look like very precise statistics, it's just an example. The program doesn't work exactly like that, I have no way of knowing without doing a crapload of analysis using a bunch of clicks. I'm positive it works something like that though. It wouldn't make much sense otherwise. |

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
Well posting just the population link on the front page seems like it could cause disaster >__> Why not just post all of the links so at least there is some distribution to the clicks and then we can manage the falling stats from here?
Otherwise it'll just go haywire. We could easily get over 1000 clicks very quickly. And if the whole site was working on this we could probably blow right to the top pretty fast ;D

That's why alain wants us to focus on commerce, security, and the like. When everyone clicks population, our pre-emptive clicks for the other stats will keep everything in check.

I just don't think it's going to be enough. Which is what I was getting at it. Hundreds of clicks on other stats could easily be overrun very quickly if this goes on the main page as only a population link.

So put all 6 links in the post, and let random chance and arbitrary preference keep it more balanced.

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
Problem is just that I don't think Tass or Synth or whoever makes the post will want to list 6 links in the post. They just want a quick mention, one bit of blue highlighted text. Over linking makes people think there's too much to check out, and they skip links entirely (see a few posts ago where Synth hotlinked the subscriber signup page about 4 times in one post.) I think we're more likely to get effective traffic if we get everyone involved in the one page link and do the cleanup ourselves. This is definitely manageable if we're preemptive.

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
On another note, people have been clicking the industry link, and as such - pollution has increased in the city and needs env clicks to be controlled. This is completely unecessary cleanup. I would prefer if everyone who knew of commerce would pick it instead of industry.
It's like growing up with a plastic knife. When you're finally old enough to have a steel knife, you don't keep using the plastic one. It does the same job, sure, but nowhere near as well. |

Re: Building an FFR City on this French Site.
I've been attempting to upgrade transport through proxying and have been taking down a list of the ones that worked. The thing is some of them connected to the site just fine but still didn't work. Was this just because somebody used the same site previously or...?
