you can get an announcer from www.stepmania.com/stepmania. once you have the file put it in the announcers folder. then go to options/appearance options and select it.
the C speeds are the arrows will scroll at bpm 300 or 400 and there will be no bpm changes at all never use them if you plan on posting in the brag board |

first of all, there's a certain logic for speeds:
1) Find a speed at which the arrows come up. ( One you enjoy, and can handle.) 2) Know the bpm at which your comp starts lagging, and will screw you up. (Mine sadly enough is like 700.) 3) Try to use common sense. Eg. If a song is, say, 135 bpm, its prolly best to play at 3x, or maybe 2x if you're a little newer. Don't play a song at x2 if its 500 bpm, that's just stupidity. General Guidline for speeds (At least for me.) 0-70 bpm: x8 or maybe x4, depending. 70-125 bpm: x4 125-200 bpm: x3 200-250 bpm: x2 250-400 bpm: x1.5 400+ bpm: x1 That's just a general guidline, some people like to go faster, some slower, it's really just a matter of what you're comfortable with.

as for that "pound" game, it's Pump, as in Pump It Up (PUI), which is a game similar to DDR. the main difference is that instead of 4 buttons there are 5 (each diagonal and one in the middle). unless the song has steps made for PUI, the steps will be auto-gen'd, which makes them suck usually. i personally like 4 buttons better, and i like the actual DDR steps better than PUI auto-gen'd ones.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
