Caution, I don't suggest going more than 3 days without sleep. It may (most likely) leave pernmanent damage to your psyche. I usually only go 40 hours without sleeping, but that's it.

I would... except not sleeping on a school night isn't the smartest thing.

I can't sleep for more than 7 1/2 hours or else I am tired with a headache the rest of the day. I've gone without sleep for 2 1/2 days without feeling tired at all. When I finally fell asleep I ended up sleep walking, going into my parents room and yelling at them crazily until my dad just picked me up and took me to my room.
It was pretty weird, I swear I was conscious at the time... but I wasn't making any sense. I also sleepwalk and go crazy everytime I get a fever from a weird disease. Good luck with your marathon, no pressure though, if you feel sick, just fall asleep. I bet you'll fail pretty early, I rarely stayed awake long enough to do my homework this year.

i get crazy late at night...anybody who has talked to me on AIM in the wee hours of the morning will tell u this, too.
oh, and i've gone one night without sleeping, but i was fairly tired the next day. i'd try and stay up for a long time again, but my parents would complain about me "messing up my sleep schedule." they're already mad at my sis because she doesnt get outta bed til 2 or 3pm...

So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =( In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz. So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |

Jono's right, actually, about the damage. They've done controlled studies on sleep deprivation, and while timing and actual effects differ from person to person, they all stray among the same lines. Extreme tiredness (duh), followed by that adreneline rush Jewpin was talking about. Soon after the person may feel paranoid and exhibit psychotic behavior. Eventually, all of the subjects became passive-agressive, switching rapidly between schizophrenic paranoia and violence and brief periods of extreme calm. Permanent damage can occur if the experiment is prolonged or repeated.

The best thing to do to keep yourself awake is to engage in an activity that requires your attention, but not a lot of thought. Even repetitive actions like using a ping-pong paddle or yo-yoing can work well (that's what they've used in clinical studies). |

I get around 6 hours of sleep every night, and it's very difficult getting up. I have to set two alarm clocks in different locations in my room to wake myself up.
I looove sleep. During the summer, I get 10 hours every night. I can sleep until noon almost every day. On days I have work (about 3 times a week), I have to get up at 9:30. Not bad. The summer is just a week away. |
