I have detested spam since I had my @rogers.com email address. Each day, I recieve on average about 100+ spam email messages. All of them go to my SPAM folder thanks to filters and whatnot, but there's a reason why I never use my ISP's mailbox.
People, please share your thoughts about SPAM, and we could possibly have a little debate on it. Cheers, Daniel

I'm not really sure what you could debate about spam... Could you please clarify?

Critical Thinking?
You're going to have to give me a really good explanation of what kind of a CT debate can come out of this subject. This isn't an "I hate spam" rant forum, but I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, here. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

The thing is, a lot of spam you get is illegal in the first place. Many spammers just have bots that look through search engines and acquire email addresses...
So what's there to argue? |

I don't think there is much you can do about it. Just delete all your spam.

I disagree. I like spam and think it adds variety to email. It is like a fun free little puzzle game to sort through your emails and figure out which ones are spam and which ones you actually want to keep. It's also funny to see how they use type writer symbols as letters and make up random names hoping that it will be the name of someone you know, getting you to open the email and get a link. The ones that have little bits of works of literature in them to try to bust spam filters is legendary to.
I love spam so much in fact I have set up several email accounts hoping I can catch more. I hope that spam remains forever, a piece of my life would be missing without it. It seriously occupies me for large amounts of time.

Jabber, I sure hope you're kidding. I just abandon sites or email addresses of mine that get spammed too much, since I've spent hours just deleting all of it before, it's ridiculous.

Hours? :/ What kind of sites are you giving your email address to?
I mean, really... All I have to do is hit "empty" in the Bulk after making sure I didn't get a newsletter in the bulk, and I only get like 10 spam messages a day, if that. Real easy to clean if you look at your mail daily. The amount of non-spam far outnumbers the amount of spam.

Moved to chit chat for lack of critical thinking. This is not a deep thought type of conversation. Stay out of the critical thinking forum unless you have something of value to add.

Haven't you ever heard the saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?" Maybe your computer is a weak computer, but mine is strong and can handle virus's and Trojans. In fact, I like to open up spam email attachments just to inoculate my computer and tests its fortitude. If you are to protective of your computer, it will die from a wimpy common cold like virus, you need to bolster its immune system!
