John was the closet disciple to Jesus and he was his favorite.

Before I start, lets just clear up in case anyone was mistaken about the words, the differences between apostles and disciples.

However, there are also plenty of instances that could imply that John was his favourite, though Jesus did call Simon-Peter and Matthew first, and Peter is "the rock" on which Jesus claimed he would build his faith, so again, it depends on whom you read and how you choose to interpret it. Quote:

It is generally assumed that the woman who anointed Jesus' feet (Who was identified as "a sinner") in Luke 7, and the woman named Mary who was the brother of Lazarus identified in John 11 were both the same Mary, who Pope Gregory I also identified as being the same Mary as Mary Magdalan. There's also some speculation that the woman brought before Jesus as an adulterer in John 8 (The bit with "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" in it) could also have been Mary, though the woman is never named. She is not presented as a sinner/prostitute as a means of demeaning her. She is almost always presented in a very positive light, as the repentant sinner, to demonstrate that all may come to the proper life through Jesus, even if that carries with it a fairly implicit condemnation of her earlier life. (You may have noticed that the bible and christianity are pretty big on repentance) Last edited by devonin; 06-15-2007 at 04:51 PM.. |

This issue is especially tricky for me since I live in Massachusetts, one of the (I beleive) 2 states that allows gay marriage. I, personally, out of my religious beliefs, don't think that it should be allowed. However, my senator recently voted to not let the people vote on gay marriage, and this pisses me off very much. We should be allowed to vote on this very sensitive matter and what I consider to be a very personal issue and different opinion for each one of us. I do not descriminate against homosexuals and lesbians. I think that they should be allowed to have a legal union with the same benifits as marriage, just don't call it marriage, because it's not!

Why not? Its the same as heterosexual marriage, just two people who love each other. Homosexual or heterosexual; it doesn't affect the love and the connection they share. Your personal/religious beliefs shouldn't infringe on the rights of others.

ROFL'D.....this made my night.
Anyhow, I personally think that gay marriage would be ok because people should have full freedom in the world, despite if God does not want to give them that freedom. |

The point I'm trying to make is that those instituting marriage have let a number of things slide since marriage came about, but homosexual marriage? Never, most seem to be saying. Hasn't the original form of marriage been bended and shaped enough for it to not matter anymore? This form of seemingly random "let that slide but not that" I find confuzzling. It seems to me like marriage is merely a civil union that just doesn't allow certain people. True. Well as far as I know, he gave it to us anyway. I wouldn't have thought God has had anything to do with taking away freedoms. Blame those in power at the moment. They're making the laws.

Besides, letting people vote on it would just allow religion to enter politics even more. Last edited by psychopete; 06-17-2007 at 03:51 PM.. |

Edit: What you define as Hell is probably what I would define as a heaven. My heaven is a place where people honor other's life, liberty, and property without using their liberty to reduce other's life, liberty, or property unless there is a justified cause. This heaven could be a physical place, but as it remains right now, it only defines the way I feel and just hypothetical in regards to the reality that everyone shares. I'm pretty sure it is, by definition, between a man and a woman, but if that cannot be change, something of similar importance should be given to gay people who want to be able to do something similar.

I want to have my say in on this.
Homosexual marriage is misunderstood. People have the right to choose their sexuality. Whether it be gay, lesbian, hetro, etc... They have the right to be any one. I do not understand why it is so wrong. In my country (canada), it has been the talk of the government for years. People should be more understanding to this. Cheers, Daniel

I don't see anything wrong with gay, bi, lesbo or anything??
The only thing I'm against is getting a sex change.. You were born to be either a boy or a girl and shouldn't be changed. If you were suppose to be a boy you would be a boy, if you were suppose to be a girl then you would be a girl ^_^ To tell the truth I'm bi and I don't care haha. But I don't see myself marrying a guy 0_0
