I say Secret of Mana! I dunno why, but i just do. Of course there was always a little fight between this game and Chrono Trigger. It's all about the classical way of playing video games. Or maybe not to some people...

FFT-A is the worst bastardization of a could-have-been franchise, ever. The original FFT is better than it in every possible concievalbe way (other than maybe translation, because FFT has quite a few errors in it)

secret of mana games are only fun when you have lots of people playing with you which is only best part of the game.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna say Live-A-Live. Just played through it again... I love the quirky sense of humor that the whole game has... and it's just plain cool. Which is more than can be said for Square's more recent efforts.
Bahamut Lagoon is a close second. |

Brave Fencer Musashi...was that an RPG or more of a hack and slash, or a platformer, or a hybrid.

I don't think you people understand why you play final fantasy. Maybe you are pea brained people who don't enjoy a good story? Well that can't be the case, because the final fantasy series is KNOWN for being great story after great story.
I can't believe that tool had the decency to say he deleted ff8 to make room for "REAL" RPGs. Idiot. Final Fantasy 8 is by far the best final fantasy to date. I love 7, and 6 holds a special place in my heart too, but 8 was gaming euphoria. I was satisfied by everything in that game: The story, the battle system, even the ways you could become virtually unstoppable. They knew what they were doing with FF8, and i've yet to see an FF compare with it yet, let's keep our fingers crossed for 12.

Oh, and I change my vote to a 6-way tie. Bahamut Lagoon, Live-a-Live, SaGa Frontier, SaGa Frontier 2, FFT, Legend of Mana. As you can see, Square's (well, Squenix's) strength lies in their other franchises, not Final Fantasy. Even though FFT was seriously one of the best games ever. FFTA sucked big time though. Off-topic, I can't wait for DQ8, can you guys? I'm interested to see what Squenix has done with the franchise. |

chrono trigger was easily the funnest. I think all the final fantasy's are all just a huge hype up.

Final fantasy seven is my vote definetally. FF7 is what introduced my to the world of RPGs all those long years ago. It was nice and long, it had a strong plot, the fighting was quality, and best of all -- i actually LIKED the characters. Not so with these new square games, like ff10. Regardless of how good that game was, i just could not get into it because of the characters. Runnerup: chrono trigger. And by the way, i thought that ff8 was pretty good too. Not great for sure, but i really did enjoy it. Gunblades are cool.
And ye gods man! Those "chicks" were not hot! |

i can't stand standard RPGs... i greatly enjoy games that have HUGE customability and replayability... recent and past great RPGs: Wizardy 8, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum, Fallout... those games have so much replayability with so much customization and different styles... i must have played Wiz8 about 7-8 different ways.
i know these are a different type of RPG than the FFs.. but, damn do i think the FFs are bad and boring. also... computer RPGs are where its at. 100x better than the system RPGs.
