Not all emos cut themself, some do and some don't... And if people cut themselves, that doesn't automatically make them emo. I'm not saying its right... but yeah there's a lot of stereotyping.

Well, you're right about that. You cannot look at my user name and avatar and not think emo. And I am ashamed of all those attention seeking whiny kids who think its cool to harm themselves. It makes this style look so bad... But you're right, they do stick out

i like the emo kid song...makes me laugh
"i'm an emo kid nonconforming as can be you'd be nonconforming to if you looked just like me..." but there's a huge difference between emo and attention seeking fcuk up's that need to go play in traffic [even the emo's that do hurt themselves]

you're missing the whole point... you don't have to wear thickrimmed glasses and black everything to be emo.

lol you kno i actually spent about 20 mins convincing someone im emo...
no idea why, except i was bored ...but in the end he believed me...and could understand why i'm the way i am and yes, i kno you don't think im emo... it all depends on what you define emo as... i fit into most ppl's definition of it except i don't write the depressing poetry=P

Ok... honestly, when wikipedia recognizes it, you can't deny that the word has evolved.

The word emo is primarily used as an adjective.[5]
Adjective (1): All my friends are emo. Adjective (2): I feel emo today. Noun: That person is a total emo. It is not to be confused with the bird, an emu. |

Y'all suck. Seriously, who cares how people live their lives? Who are you to dictate what they can and cannot like.

The term "emo" was coined by Seventeen Magazine in 2002 to describe the clothes that punkers were wearing at the time, being tight pants, ties, fedoras, armlets, piercings, and spiky jewelry.
The term was invented to be a label. If you don't want to label yourself, fine, but don't get all indignant when people call you emo based on your lifestyle, one that is for some reason connected to the music and clothing of those who do label themselves. I mean hell, before the word "emo" existed, I wore those clothes and listened to those bands. I was insulted too when people started calling me "emo." But I don't let the labels define me. People aren't neatly categorized into labels unless they choose to be. Just be unique. If that means you listen to emo bands, whatever. Just be aware that the label exists.
