Default What the Hell is THIS?

Ok...I was at Wonderland (Canadaian Theme Park) at a school trip and me and a few other guys who play DDR a bit met up towards the end of the trip to go to the arcade and play some DDR. This is the first time I went since October and it was closed during winter. I went to the arcade that was suppost to have 'DDR Ex' but it was replaced with 'Para Para Dancing'. We ran to the other end of the park to the arcade that we were sure it would have DDR as it had 'DDR Ex' & 'DDR Max' since last I was there.

I walk in and there's SuperNova so I was slightly regretfull but definiatly happy but then I looked at it. Milton Movie Theater all over again. Rubber buttons and it was the PS2 version in a cabnet. Wondering if the macro'd it better and had more responsive buttons I put it a doller and it started working. Selected Easy songs singles. Very pissed I continue to play the game but I had to smash the arrows several times per step to pick a song and difficulty. I pick some Bullshit song and I fail cause of the stupid buttons.

This is the SECOND time this happend and its pissing me off. Any one else see one of these stupid machines? Anyone know anything about them?

Nope. Really ****ing sucks though, seems like a lot of arcades you have to press harder than the home version, though.

Just about every DDR machine I've played has had some pad trouble with it.

In addition to the fact that there's very few machines in my area, I play ITG or PIU.

Well I have a similar story. I was playing ITG2 and put it on Challenge, and while my back was turned, these two stupid kids run by and start pressing the button, thus selecting the song without time for me to change the scroll rate, so I ended up almost failing that Amore some on 1x.

UPDATE: These sets are pirated (not that I didn't know that already) by some arcade company which takes old US1-Ex cabnets then put PS2's inside them and macro them all wrong because THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT DDR!!!

yeah, our ddr up at this bowling alley has the SCREEN busted, so you can only see half of it, and also the left arrow to select songs is broken, so you can't go back through the songs... it is pretty much un-playable

EDIT: the guy above me incorrectly interpreted this thread. He's waaaay off.

OMG!

fido123 you lucky bastard. I've never been to Wonderland.

Are you sure some idiots didn't go and spill drinks on the machines? I remember I accidentally did that on the PIU machine at Fairview and within a week that machine was gone.

Well its probably a good thing they got rid of that Extreme. It had the worst pads in all of Ontario.

DDR machines here on my place can be a lot worse than yours. First the screws on the metal pad are missing, so it's a lot less sensitive than it has ever been before, so I have to stomp on it a little harder. Next, some street kids enter the arcade and sometimes picks me a random song, mixes up options (gives me hidden, shuffle, mirror) and finally the DDR machine here is 1st mix and it look really really old.

I feel much comfortable playing DDR Supernova here on my PS2.

Many people today play DDR Extreme, DDR Supernova and later. But I still play 1st and 2nd mix in the arcades. Too bad for me.

I'd rather play SuperNova through a PS2 in a cabinet then with the AWFULLY synced arcade machines.

The version fido was talking about is nothing like the original arcade versions that all of you see. I've been to Wonderland, in fact, every year I've been there. I always see DDR Extreme, but it seemed more like a home version and the pads sucks just as bad as the home version pads, maybe worse. All the songs were from DDR: EX PS2 version. Now they have it for Supernova. Damn I'm not going there again

They released a patch that fixes all the sync and adds FELM. Go bug your arcade operator to install it.
