Queue/Batch Discussion Thread - Page 133

Batches getting finished quickly isn't nearly important enough for me to consider stepping down because I haven't been fast lately. If I thought it was getting to the point where I'd never EVER get it done, I'd consider quitting, but really...while I realize it's annoying for the file authors when it's this slow (and I apologize for that), it's not actually hurting the game or site at all, since we still have plenty of stuff in queue--and so I wouldn't really consider quitting just because I'm slow.

Not that that's any excuse for my slowness, but slowness alone isn't really enough of a reason for me to quit IMO.

Well.. it's going to definitely catch up to you, seeing as this next batch is going to be every file from March 29th to the day you finish, presumably.

That'll take longer to finish than this, and it'll eventually catch up, unless you start speeding up the process.

eventually it's POSSIBLE, but we're looking at years (plural) for that to happen, and that's all solved if I just do ONE batch really quickly, as Tass said.

I don't really see it as particularly likely.

Back on track, what if the YEARS do come? Think of it that way, in stead of, "Oh it'll never happen." Maybe you should prevent that from happening before it actually happens.

Meh.

The only problem I really see is that it discourages the authors for putting out quality work. I know I haven't touched a single FFR file in a couple weeks, just because I haven't had any feedback on my most recent files. If I were to make a file right now I probably wouldn't put too much effort into it. I could probably make it queueworthy but not great.

but to really make myself clear... and publically... Shash: you're laziness in this manner is REALLY getting on my nerves. I gave you tons of warning as to when I was going away to LA. I really asked nicely a ton of times to get you to have it done before then, so I could get the batch out before I left...

but right now, i'm REALLY concerned that you won't get this batch done before YOU go away for 3 weeks. it's been ONE FULL F-ING MONTH since I gave you this batch. jx has been done for well over 2 weeks (I could check the exact date, but i'm being lazy myself... closer to 3 weeks than 2).

I can already see that giving you the NEXT batch is worthless, as you won't finish it before you leave.

So this is how it will be:

finish the f-ing batch! play 20 files a day for the next 4-5 days (assuming you haven't even started it yet?) and get me the report. then take a month off. jx and i will do this upcoming massive batch (even though i'm not happy about it at all)... and by the time you come back, the batches will be back to being very small and doable in 1 sitting, so you should be able to work on them quickly.

don't make me delete your Pants score, or one of those other ones that will take you 50-100+ runs to duplicate.

Anyway, regarding all this slowness, there might be a positive to it all.
It would give some of you step authors a chance to go back to your file that you haven't looked at in a while and maybe say "holy shiit that's fukked up I should change that, my file won't get accepted if that is in there" and so on.
It would:
1) more likely be accepted (depending what you changed and what else you have in your file I guess);
2) be enjoyed by a greater percentage of the FFR population; and
3) make you happy because you got your file accepted
