One major lesson, though, kids, if you buy a high quality classic guitar, don't alter the paintjob. That destroys the value.

I meant perhaps an FAQ of some sort, or a link to guides and lessons.

I can do that for sure, but right now I'm kickin back in school, and the net runs slow as hell (bandwith and all that jazz) So as soon as I get home (about 2 hours) I'll get onto looking for some good sites, lessons, and work on an FAQ.

Yea, if you're going to want a guitar to alter with looks then I wouldn't do it to a guitar worth more than $5-600

About your first post.

For those metal and maybe hard rock players out there I recommend a Schecter Omen 6 and a Roland Micro Cube. A bit pricy for a starter but it'll last longer than those really bad, "strat packs."

Very good post, and certainly a very nice start.

@spinal: Strat packs are absolute garbage, yes. I can't think of a single reason to buy one.

Now if only I could get a Legacy amp...

It's a shame, Ibanez offers parts through their website, but I don't see any means of getting completely custom made guitar from them. Anyone have an idea on what that's about? I'm a huge Ibanez fan and I love my JEM but I also want to be able to construct my own tone out of a custom made guitar, even if I can alter it through effects and when I put it into my computer.

There was a reason I didn't recommend strat packs lol. But, about getting a custom Ibanez.. I'm not sure. I guess you may have to order one with the kind of shape and wood you'll want, and customize the parts on it unfortunately. Other then that, I don't know how to get a custom guitar off of them.

Schecters are amazing guitars. I'm currently saving up to get a Schecter Hellraiser C-1, along with my other thousands of dollars of guitars and equipment I seem to be needing right now. I only recommend a starter pack for people with no musical background because I've seen more people than I can count quit guitar within a week, and spending ****loads on a first guitar would be pointless then.. but then again, they could then sell them at a garage sale and we could get them for even cheaper than store-bought... hmm

or they could just play Guitar Hero and spend the rest of the money on beer, pot, and hookers.

I love Roland. I have a Roland Fantom X-7 keyboard (godly piece of equipment) and a large Roland Cube Amp for my keyboarding setup. It's beautiful.

I'm going to see Steve Vai in concert on September 7th, and my uber-ticket includes a meet-and-greet, so I get to meet him, ask him a few questions in a small group, and get his autograph.

I have to ask if I can bring my JEM. I want to get it signed. Then I will save it for EVAR.

I'd kill to have the 20th anniversary JEM. It's so beautiful! And it's entirely new hardware, and with Vai, I trust it completely.

I played one in a nearby guitar shop. Heavy as hell! Also sweet as hell. Nice thin, fast neck. *Drools*

I played a guitar the other week at a local music shop, and since they're a small shop they only get this brand of guitar that's a no name, so I gave it a try. It's probably the most comfortable guitar I've played. Overall, not the best of sounds, but the way it was built was so comfy. It felt like a Les Paul and a Strat mixed into one. It was amazing, I'll have to figure out what the brand is called.

I still think Jackson's have the most comfortable necks in the world. Not to mention V's are the most comfortable guitars to play standing up. Everything about that guitar is in perfect balance

If you haven't tried the fast playing Ibanez and high quality LTDs, then you need to, because they're the fastest and most comfy I've tried. The couple of Jacksons (yes, the fast-playing necks) I've tried felt like a poor man's Ibanez.

And flying V's are fun to play but end up lacking lots of functionality found in other guitars... I much prefer a thin lead solid body. Flying V's are more a trophy guitar for show than anything.

Like I said in the other thread, I haven't really tried any high quality Ibanez guitars. The only ones I have tried were their hollow body, and those are hardly the same, so I will have to give them a try before I say anything about them. And I have not seen a SINGLE ESP at my Guitar Center here, and I don't know where else to go in my area to find some.

I played an ESP in the original Guitar Center that made my jaw drop and my fingers melt.

That Guitar Center, located in LA, is the most beautiful place I've ever set foot in. It was breathtaking... all those audio workstations, those beautiful guitars... my god.

You went to the original GC?! I hate you now. I'm going to go sit in my little emo corner and cry myself to sleep cause I couldn't experience that.

@Tps222: I'll watch it when I get home tonight, I'm at school right now and they already caught me going on youtube here. They also blocked FFR, but thank god this site has so many mirrors set up for it lol.

@Purified: Not a bad setup. Not a big fan of Takamine personally, but their acoustics are alright. The old Gibson is probably gorgeous, new one I guess I'd have to see to make a good judgement on. They pop out a good one to about every 5 bad ones these days.

The GC was beautiful. I almost died.

and Purified's guitars aren't terrible, but I'm not too impressed either. And it's not a setup without the amp and effects listed. :P
