Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
On Friday or Saturday? On Friday, we're meeting roughly 7-8 p.m. EST at the student union on the BGSU campus. On Saturday, we'll be set up and ready to let people in at 10 a.m. EST in room #106 of BGSU's Olscamp Hall.

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
YOU GUYS! Mom said I can't go because I got caught doing something I shouldn't have been doing! and I really wanted to come out there and see you guys! Please everyone take pictures and stuff I'll be sadly at home NOT attending a con that I really wanna go to while you're all having fun. Seriously It's less than an hour away I might still try to sneek out of the house and come. Mom didn't take my keys =P but more likely than not I won't be able to come sorry guys I was really looking forward to this.

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
*sigh*
From the first post in this same thread: "Q: Okay, thank you for the seven hour speech. But why is the first one in Ohio? And not only that, but why Bowling Green? A: It's where I live. Those of you who follow my profile should remember this, "Of course, I'm talking to Synthlight about a couple of ideas and, hopefully, I'll be able to organize something really interesting in the near future." I've attended Animarathon every year since its inception and last year the event's attendence broke my wildest expectations. Sure, to some of you having more than 1,000 people at the same event seems like an everyday activity to you, but I live in northwest Ohio. If you can get 100 people to do the same thing here, it's a success. And when you realize that Animarathon is the only event in northwest Ohio that caters to anime, video games and Japanese culture, it seemed to me that finally giving the FFR public appearance thing a shot was a distinct possibility. Animarathon is a win-win situation for everyone. It does not cost FFR a cent to have a display at the event and there attendence to the event is completely free. It would be awesome to hold an FFR-specific convention but not only does that cost a bunch of cash, but deciding on one location would be torture as no matter where we would opt to hold it, a good portion of people wouldn't be able to attend and would then complain about it profusely on the forums. But, still, yes, a good portion of you will not be able to attend the event for one reason or another. However, Ohio is located in the Midwest and being located in northwest Ohio, the turnpike and I-75 serve as very accessable routes for those looking to attend from other areas of Ohio as well as states such as Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Illinois, or in some cases, even further. Many of the site's staff members live in this area and it allows for members to see some of the people who make this site a reality. This is the reason why the event is a good start for our public appearances. Just think of Animarthon as a feature the staff and some of its members get to "beta test." Thus, I started "talking" with the staff of the event back at the end of January about having a presence at the show. In reality, I was planning to just obtain a vendor's table, set up a computer and maybe get some swag and promotional materials from Synthlight to promote the game. Not in my wildest imagination did I think Synth would want to drive a good eight hours over to the event nor did I expect members would want to consider driving 10+ hours to attend the event. For those members who are baffled by my choice of event to start our public appearances, I hope this kind of clarifies the decision."

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
The plan as of right now is to be at the convention from the planned 10 a.m.-midnight timeframe. Since we have our own room, we shouldn't have to pack up any sooner than that.

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
This seems unreal to me, Mapquest says it's only 1 hour 59 minutes away from me!? Well, figure 4 hours then since I'll probably get lost for 2 hours somewhere inbetween Detroit and Ohio's boarder/turnpike. Guess this means there's about a 90% chance you can count me in for this convention, plus I plan on getting me one of them new shirts with my beautiful SN on it and probably a subscription to FFR. Is there any number I can call if I happen to get lost while pretty close to the convention? PM me if there is. And one last thing, this IS inside the State University right? So if I walk in, they arent going to say "uhhh.. wtf mate?".

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
In Michigan you can take I-75 South all the way to Bowling Green or if you can take 23 if it's closer and merge onto I-75 South about 15 minutes into Ohio when the road splits. When you're on I-75 South, Bowling Green is exit #118 and you'll clearly see the university off to the right while you're on I-75.
And, yes, the event is in Olscamp Hall on the campus of BGSU. You can park for free next to where the library is at and walk into the event for free. People already come from out of state to attend the event, so no worries.

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
The only problem I can see coming from Michigan is the ****ed up **** around Detroit. I almost feel like just going through Detroit to avoid getting off 75.

Re: Official FFR information on 4/14 Convention
Tonight, we'll try sticking around until a little after 8 p.m. so everyone can meet up, but we're probably looking to drive up to a pizza buffet around that time. Please try to be there between 7-8 p.m. if you can, most preferably as close to 7 as possible.
I don't travel through Detroit very often at all, so I'm not sure what the situation is like on the roads there. I almost all of my Michigan traveling on 23.
