I've made enemies by correcting every one of the chatter's sentences. If someone talks to me on AIM or MSN and doesn't type semi-literate, I ban then. It's fun. Go away. ~Squeek PS - "LOL" IS NOT A WORD. If you use it in the middle of a sentence, you are saying "Laughing out loud" in the middle of your sentence. This makes you retarded. Don't ever say "lol" without quotations around it to show that you know it's the worst acronym ever to be invented in the history of the Internet. |

I don't always capitalize, but I usually punctuate and I always have correct spelling. I also don't use annoying acronyms like 'lol' incessantly...well, not seriously, anyway. But again, AIM is different than a forum...there's just no excuse not to take the extra time on here.

Yeah, I always type with correct grammar and spelling, unless I'm typing with one hand on AIM or something.
In which case, I don't capitalize and spell a lot of things wrong.

yeah, i quit reading after about page 4. this is just pathetic. alright, so i'm not capitolizing. i dont capitolize except to show emphasis on words. as in, i NEVER capitolize, or something like that. i write how i talk. i dont talk in caps, and i dont really care too much for proper grammar. i agree, some things piss me off, tho. like, "hay, gurl" and other retarded intentional mispellings. it's one thing when ur trying to cut out a few letters and type less, but misspelling stuff on purpose is retarded. i think the rules (from the 1st post) should be more like this:
1) capitolize proper names, at least. this way u distinguish them from other ideas and improper nouns. oh, and acronyms, always capitolize acronyms. 2) use apostophes in words where having one or not can determine the meaning (such as its vs it's) 3) no excessive punctuation (except the occasional trailing 1s joke) 4) if while you're posting a reply the entire typing area is filled with text in 1 paragraph, consider splitting it up so it's not as easy to lose place in 5) use all the emoticons u want, unless they're like, a billion s in a row (such as ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ). that's just dumb. 3 max in a row, please.6) at least try to spell things close to how they should be. for example, above, i didnt know whether it was capitolize or capitalize, so i just picked one and stuck with it. 7) periods are necessarry when seperating sentances, but not at the end of lines containing only one sentance, such as this one 8 ) commas, people, they are by far the most important punctuation. oh, and learn the difference b/tn parenthetical commentary and nonessential appositives. an example of each -My brother, a doctor, performed surgery today. -Nonessential appositives (at least I think that's what they're called) use commas i cant think of any more, but if i do i'll post some more. and dont think i'm some dumb pre-teen b/cs i take short cuts in typing. i'm just a lazy bastard and not afraid to show it by not moving my pinky half an inch to the shift key.

"Capitolize" is not a word. I have no idea what you would possibly mean by this word.
Ih write how ih talk too. That's how I pronounce lowercase "I"s because it obviously can't be "I". So I had to make up pronunciation to accomodate. What's a "tho"? It's not in my dictionary... ![]() "u" is also not in my dictionary. I'm pronouncing this strange new word as "oo". "b/cs"? Is this some new acronym I've never heard of for something like the time we had "Before Counter Strike"? Seriously, this is also new to me. I'm the laziest person in the world. I just spent the last 9 hours watching the rest of .hack//SIGN. Don't stoop to a lower level because you think it might make your typing faster. In fact, it slows me down reading it, because new acronyms come out everyday and I'm not around to see their first use so I have no idea what it means. All internet users: STOP making new acronyms and STOP using acronyms all together. Especially the idiots that attach letters onto their acronyms to pluralize it. PLEASE. Think for a minute here. "LOLZ" = Laughing out loud... Zork? What? Zoology? NO. And "LOL" itself should never be used in a sentence because it is not a WORD. I don't even mind if it's in its own sentence. Please learn to type like literate human beings. ~Squeek |

i think u're all being quite ridiculous. if ur so smart that u must have proper grammar, how come u cant figure out that i means I and wont means won't, as in I won't type properly b/cs i dont want to. just give it up. whats ending up happening is that elitist group of 20 or so that DO type correctly are starting to sound like real assholes, and i think u all need to just learn to live with it.

Because English has many exceptions, but misspellings are not among them. You will not find "wont" in the dictionary, but you can find "won't" in most. Some don't even list contractions.
I refuse to "live with it". It's WRONG. Why should I live with an inferior basis off of a fine language we have already? The Internet screwed us all in hopes of an international language. How can we hope to get people to learn English by typing it wrong? Then they learn the wrong way. Way to set a bad example. ![]() If you don't want to type properly, that's your decision. Don't expect anyone to take you seriously though. ~Squeek |

That is true. I started typing with correct grammar when I registered on a forum where the first language of most people wasn't English.
But I just don't see what's wrong with typing with correct grammar. We're not elitists. We just type the way that you're supposed to.

When I got on the internet I typed properly. Upon finding that no one did the same, I went with the crowd and typed like an idiot. Similarly, upon finding that it made me look like an illiterate moron... I went back to typing normally. And I was only 13 or 14 years old.
I especially looked like an idiot 'cause I use the words "similarly" and "upon" and other junk. See below. Er actually don't. It was straining my brain to think that way, trying to type a sentence like a moron. I got halfway through the sentence. *congratulates herself*

I usually try to type using proper grammar, and sometimes I don't. The thing is, usually when my friends don't use correct spelling or punctuation of the sort, it makes them look stupid. People who can't take the few extra seconds to find the shift and period key make themselves look uneducated when they type 'liek dis'. It's annoying, and noone wants to read it. When I see people writing or typing with incorrect grammar, I usually think "Wow...go to school." I mean, you'd think people who are 13 years or older learned SOME kind of grammar in elementary/middle school. Even though i'm in the chat most of the time, it makes me sad that people on here make themselves look stupid by trying to use abbreviations and slang terms.
