So, I finally chose to download the updates for WMP. Foolish.
After all the installation, it required checking my system to see if it was legitimate. Well, my computer was built by a guy many years ago, and I remember him using file sharing programs to get what we needed on here (it was the family computer back then), so I guess he didn't have a problem just using our other copy of XP on this computer, too. So, WMP no longer works. As such, I want WMP 10 back. A rudimentary search turned up a version that "wasn't compatible with this operating system" or something like that. As all my friends know, though, I'm absolutely horrible at finding things. So, is there any way that I can downgrade my WMP back to 10 or download WMP 10 and install it over 11? I just don't want to have to use Media Player Classic. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

How about using a different player all together?

Even though I know you want to use WMP10, try a stab at Foobar. It changed my life.

I say screw Windows Media Player and get Winamp. It's smaller, and loads faster, without sacrificing sound quality. Link: http://www.winamp.com/
If you'd rather not, then try this: Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, then choose Windows Media Player. After it's been wiped from your system, click here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...0/default.aspx and DL WMP 10 |

In add/remove programs click on "Add/Remove windows components"
I think I remember that what you uncheck it what you want to un-install. Then go here and download WMP 10 http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=wmp Grid-Lock!

Thats weird... I'm not legitimate (of course its not my fault!!!) but I installed it (by bypassing the check in the beginning of the install) and it has worked flawlessly. I love it
![]() But do what Cloud said, Windows media player is listed in their to remove. EDIT: or do a system restore to before you installed it. |

Bastard! They didn't give me the option to bypass the check!
Thanks, all. What Dragonmaster said was pretty much what I was looking for. Besides the using Winamp thing, since I don't care much at all for Winamp. I may try Foobar, though. OH! The reason I was so against using a different program was because I already have all the appropriate codecs to play many different video types for WMP, specifically Matroska video files. If Foobar or other things already come with those or the ones I have are compatible with those players, that wouldn't be an issue, but I don't know, so I'm just falling back on what I know works. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Guido -- it isn't an option
![]() If you have winrar, extract the exe you download from MS. There are two files you need to run. I forget which one you do first, but you install it and restart your computer, then run the wmpinstall.exe [I think thats what it is caled]. An it works. |

yes foobar is the win. not very flashy like winamp, but it takes up less memory and does the job well.
but as for the matroska video, foobar won't do. it is strictly an audio player. for video, i highly recommend VLC (VideoLan) player. it has like every video codec EVERR

Just use WMP, download CCCP if you haven't already and that's all you gonna need for w/e.

Just remove it and redownload the older version from the Window's site. But I recommend Winamp.

Go to the Add/Remove program functions and it rolls back to the previous version.
