ok, for those flinching about the chest=egg riddle, may I REMIND you that it was in french, " un petit coffret" and I did my best to translate. in this case "chest " was like a treasure chest.

I once knew this guy who was so addicted to smoking, he would take the used up butts of 7 cigarettes, mash them together, and make a new cigarette to smoke. If you gave my friend 49 cigarette butts, how many 'new' cigarettes will be smoked?

Technically, no. But it does make sense. There is another answer though.

What if I said toothpicks?

The word "queue", which is pronounced like "cue". Removing "ueue" leaves "q".

Now for mine:A father and a son got into a car accident. The father went home to rest. The son was taken to the hospital for minor surgery. The doctor came in and said: "I shouldn't do any surgery on this boy because he's my son." How can that be?

Doctor is his mother.

Just to reiterate my puzzle (which didn't get the answer I wanted). You have four toothpicks arranged in a plus sign. Move one toothpick to make a square.
