I key smash until about 3AM almost every night, and my mom has never heard/said a thing. It was only about 12:30 tonight when she started screaming "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT NOISE!?" How exactly do you explain FFR to your mother anyway? I'm trying to be quiet now...but I get so into it sometimes.

My computer is in the second floor "loft" - that is to say, a second floor that has half-walls instead of ones that extend all the way to the ceiling.
You can hear me mashing the keyboard like you're right next to it no matter where you are in the house. I get complaints all the time, but I didn't pick the house design, so my family mostly shuts up about it.

Eh it's mostly my fault. I'm using the office because the internet in my room has been down for months. I'm just too lazy to fix it. So sound proofing the room? I am WAY too lazy for that.

try putting somthing soft under the key board, and if its just the keys, try keeping ur fingers on the keys instead of hoving over them so it has less of an impact, and if u already do that then, idk lol.

Yeah, I got shouted at a few times for playing stepmania too loud purely because it reverberated downstairs through the desk I was playing it on, so for about the last 9 months I've played with the keyboard on my legs/knees, whatever. It stops any noise apart from you hitting your keys, and honestly, you hitting your keys should not be that loud.

An internet dance simulator. If she doesn't get that just say, "DDR on the interweb." That's what I told my mom.

I didn't explain to my parents, I showed them. They thought it was pretty cool.
That was stepmania though. |

Luckily, for me my computers are in sound proof rooms so when I sneak up to play in the middle of the night no one can ever hear me. Plus, one my of keyboards is sleek, and silent. The other one is impossible to play with, it's like there's honey under all the keys.
