Now don't get me wrong, I'm half-decent at FFR or so (yeah, didn't use the forums for awhile), but what's this screen shrink I've been hearing about?
![]() Searched and to no avail. ;-; |

![]() That's screenshrinking. You remove ~~50% (or more) of the game screen.

Just restore the window. The rest should be obvious. =P
EDIT: It increases your reaction time.

Well yeah, I got the shrinking part, but what's the significance of doing so?

It makes it so your brain is processing less objects on the screen at once and focuses your attention on the important objects.

Well I dunno what it does exactly, but it helps having better score/combo. But you have to react faster =)
EDIT : Oh yeah, what Dore said ^.^

And just FYI, Kiro's window as shown is still considerably larger than most players. Most can only see part of the combo text or even smaller.

Yeah, I still don't see why people screen shrink..It only seems to make it harder. That or I'm not doing this correctly.

dore pretty much explained it. I have only tried screen skrinking once and it was a bit easier for me but not by much.

If I don't screen shrink I get an interesting barely passed mash looking cia rave, if I do screen shrink, I get nearly an AAA fc. That much of a difference.

Without screenshrinking, I'd probably do almost as bad as without reverse, which would be in the 500,000s on CIA Rave for both of those.

Well..I wouldn't say I'm a noob, but I'm no pro either. >.<
I'm probably just not shrinking correctly. My score and combo don't seem to differ much with or without screen shrink (the worse of the two being with screen shrink). ![]() |

I've never tried screenshrinking, and I don't think I could get used to it. It really would just mess me up. I'm too used to DDR with no mods. Just full screen down to up scrolling. It's true that you see less arrows at once, and therefore have a smaller chance of being overwhelmed, but you see each arrow for a smaller period of time. This wouldn't really be a problem if you're playing at your comfort scroll rate. I guess if I played DDR with the Sudden mod it would be similar, but I'm just one of those people that doesn't mod the arrows.
Still, I see the usefulness, even though it'll never apply to me (and I'll continue sucking at FFR for all of time). |
