Believe what you like, but the infinity we're talking about is NOT a number, so your rule cannot apply. We don't know what infinity is. It's a concept. And it has its own rules. Infinity * anything = infinity. You have just decided to resolve the conflict of two rules (0*anything = 0 and infinity * anything = +-infinity) by only following one of the rules, but what about the other?

I could say "Infinity times anything is infinity, obviously, so infinity times zero is still infinity" and it makes as much sense as what you said, mathematically. Practically, "infinity" is a number because "infinity" is just a really huge number, so you are right in that case.

In everyday life, infinity * 0 = 0, because infinity as a number is somewhat broken and not actually infinity, as I've said earlier, you might want to think of Graham's number instead of infinity. Graham's number is probably bigger than anything you're thinking of as infinity.

But mathematically, infinity * 0 is undefined, and it will never be anything but that. If you say elsewise you are wrong. Sorry. It doesn't matter how much sense it makes to you - it's still wrong. It doesn't have to be intuitive. Though it makes perfect sense to me.

As for negative infinity, it is all the numbers less than 0. Only time I have used it is when describing a graph. (As X aproches negtive infinity, y approches positive infinity.)

technically im not a mathmatician, but an error is the following any number / infinity = zero

Technically dividing something by infinity makes something very small, but not zero

therefor it should be any number / infinity = Lim n-> 0

could be wrong... heck where is that mathmatician
