Default Pointers from experts..

I've been playing FFR for about....7 months now. I think i've improved significantly since I started, but I'm ready to move on to more difficult levels, and can't seem to complete them. Is there any tips on how to keep up with all the arrows without becoming overwhelmed and failing the song? Is there any type of practice other than just playing those difficult levels over and over again to get better at it? I would like to know if any experts who play difficult levels with ease had anything to say that could help me further improve my skills in FFR. Thanks for reading my thread!

lots and lots of practice...and stepmania. Screen cutting helps read arrows better...save you from being overwhelmed but if you cant move fast enough to hit the arrows you cant beat it anyhow. Keep practicing.

I don't know if there's any real advice I can give you (Aside from the previous posters), but I'm trying a subdividing exercise (someone please check that for me where I mute the speakers and rely only on my eyes. This is primarily for those songs with 16th (Y'all call them 12th) notes.

as the others have said... screencutting (or more reasonably named screen-shrinking) is where you make the window smaller so you dont see the entire ffr window, it works like a CMOD in Stepmania... you see a smaller amount of arrows making it easier to pick out specific arrows in streams and such...

also if you tend to freak out during a stream of arrows and just start smashing randomly on the keys... JUST DONT DO IT... take a deep breath in and try to pick out the notes instead... button mashing gets you nowhere... picking out arrows does

I think everyone calls them 16th notes. (four notes per beat of course)
Twelfth notes would be triplets. Most FFR songs are in 4/4 huh.

I got better at FFR by playing @ home DDR using the controller.
Lol.

EDIT: *coughps2cough*

When I came back and started playing FFR again, I was 100 times better, 4srs.
But this was a constant day to day playing DDR thing for 6 months.

most people think it is easier to play split hand of course but if you want to play single handed that's good for you. with that you just need practice like everyone else said and if you can recognize patterns in a song then that always helps. Also try to pick songs with small portions of hard parts that don't come flying at you but instead you can see them coming and then work your way to the point where they are no problem.

There are some godly 1 handed players like DarkManticore but i would suggest trying out spread and index as alternatives... i used to play one handed then i switched to index, i got 10x better

then i switched to spread... i got 4x better...

other than that practice practice practice and screencut the hell out of your internet browser

Pretty much. Unless you already play DDR or any Dance Simulator, that's all you can do.
