Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
Ok, I have been on windows since about '95. Last month, I switched to mac and I have to say I will never go back. I have an iMac (apple.com/imac) 17" screen 1GB Memory, 160 GB Hard Drive, and loving every minute of it. For those who say mac's suck, I would have to disagree. I can say right now, I will not deny: The Mac does not do games. I also say, leave that for nintendo, sony, and Microsoft to release GAME SYSTEMS!!!!! I understand that some people want to have it all in one, but that is one of the only bad reasons people can come up with to diss the Mac.
I want you guys to compile a list of where Macs shine and PC's falter, and Vice Versa. I'll Start Mac: +: -Better at creating various items such as music, podcasts, movies, pictures, websites and DVDs with iLife -Apple thinks of the customer: What could we do to make ease of the computer for the consumer, or even the pro? -Amazing Design -Apple Remote -THE DOCK!!!! -Built in iSight on 3/5 of the machines offered -Firewire on all models -perfect integration with iTunes and iPod. -Little to no viruses written for Macs -Expose & Dashboard -: -The Price: I admit it can be pricey to get the piece of hardware you want sometimes. But then again, your not getting a dell that is going to fall apart after two years after getting the cheapest model you could. -Again, cannot play most games PC +: -Supports wide Range of Software and hardware -More popular -Cheap(o) -Plays Games -: -Non Intuitive design of computers & Windows -Insane amount of viruses -Its not made by apple -Intimidating Design -Manuals upon manuals to read if your a first time user -Can't Run Mac OS X -Windows hasn't been updated for five years -A pain in the arse to reinstall and remove Windows/wipe out hard drive -Spyware and Hackers Last edited by AutumnSkyline; 12-15-2006 at 03:08 PM.. Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
I use a PC instead of a Mac for the same reason I use a real cell phone instead of a Fisher Price one.

Lmao you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to games.
"OLOL JUST PLAY IT ON A CONSOLE." Oh. OK. I'll just go and play PC-exclusive games on a console right now... Macs are good for people who don't actually plan on doing anything with their computer. Me? I actually use it for things.

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
My dad bought a brand new eMac about a year ago, or more. And just about 6 months ago or so, the computer overheated and went.. CRASH.
Oh yeah. Macs are so awsome. They don't last long. =/ EDIT: Also, I've been usings Macs for like 7+ years now, and I just recently started using Windows XP like.. 3 months ago, and it's so much better. All I need now is enough money to afford my own PC. Last edited by Nyokou; 12-15-2006 at 03:15 PM.. |

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
Hi. I'm a Mac. I'm a PC.
Mac - I support iTunes. PC - I do, too. Mac - Well, I look cool. PC - Anything costing over $900 looks 'cool'. Mac - Well...uh... PC - Can you play games? Mac - No. Yeah, I use a PC. I just felt like being sarcastic. |

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
The PC is bad because it is not made by Apple. Sounds about right to me.

Windowsblinds Sorry, but I'm not stupid enough to get a virus. Even then, I can fix it within 30 minutes with my knowledge of HijackThis. AND MACS AREN'T MADE BY MICROSOFT! Maybe to a monkey. Are you joking? 1) Dual boot 2) AND MAC OS X CANT RUN WINDOWS XP Vista, and I just got an update for Windows not too long ago. Not important, though. I update my own computer with my own software. Spyware is a nuisance, and I've never had hacking problems. Your post more or less proved that Macs were for idiots (VIRUSES AND SPYWARE AND MANUALS--OH MY!), if anything, not that Macs were superior.

Call me an idiot but I never really have understood why people look down on other people for not using the kind of computer they think should be used. =\

I use a Dell PC. It's okay, it only pisses me off ocasionally. I have to admit though, Macs look so much cooler. Ah anyway, I don't see myself with a Mac in the future. XD

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
I can do everything that I need to do on a Mac, on a PC, plus oh so much more.
My parents have Macs, I have a PC, and the Mac is such a huge pain in the ass to do stuff on it's mindboggling.

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
I love how Mac users say "IT'S SO MUCH EASIER COMPARED TO WINDOWS."
Both are self-explanatory, you're just too blockheaded to switch gears from one to the other. I went on a Mac for the first time since I was four (back when they were black and white) and I had absolutely no problems using it. Likewise, a Mac enthusiast I know told me he had no trouble adapting to the school PCs even though he had been using Macs at his private school. If Macs could play games, I would be entirely impartial as to which I'd get. But they don't.

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
No ****. Check the part of my post where I mention dual booting. It was wrong for him to say PCs can't run Mac OS X, so I countered his false statement with a false converse to prove my point.

Re: Choose Your Poison: Mac or PC
I've been using a Mac since August and I am very happy with it and to date I haven't had any problems with it.
I have noticed that programs do take a bit longer too load than with my windows machine, but then again, I have to reformat my windows machine every few months just so it works properly (in fact, I am in the process of reformating my windows machine now since the USB ports just magically stopped working). Despite my bias for mac, I use both operating systems. |
