My reading ability shot way up. I used to read as fast as I spoke (and I speak slow and with pauses). Now I read alot faster and it's still improving. I do, however, procrastinate alot because of this. I haven't been doing schooling because of this and because of building a website...

The only thing FFR helped me with is typing and how to act on a forum.
Really, it's a game just like any other. The only reason way DDR is consider good by the the public is that it's a fun workout, but when you translate it to you fingers, all you get is the power to see that plate you've just droped go down in slo-mo and relize that you cant move fast enough to save it. |

Pros and Cons of FFR Pros -You can stay on beat (like instrumentally) -Sightreading is faster -Reaction Time is faster -Reflexes -Your brain is reading all these arrows that come up the screen like hell -Typing accuracy is actually better (trust me) -Typing speed is faster Cons of FFR -Addiction, alchohol, drugs, cigarettes, sex, homosexuality That's about it Just kidding -No intelligence from it, but maybe you can learn some techno LOL -Carpal Tunnel Syndrom, MSI, RSI (lol) -Can damage your keyboard from hitting the arrows -Can give you arthritis (Seriously) |

Get back on topic people, this is a ct thread, not the garbage bin. It appears the consensus is that FFR does not make you smarter, but it can help you in other ways.

The fact that it looks like your wall is moving upwards is that your motion receptors are habituating to seeing arrows move upwards, or just upward motion in general. Its kinda like the set point for determing what is moving and what isn't moving is changed, so that when you look at something not moving, in comparison to the constant up movement, you it looks like it's moving down. Or you can think of it that your upward motion receptors are firing, and this offsets the base firing rate of your downwards motion receptor neurons so their baseline rate becomes more salient.
This is a well-known illusion, I forget the name, but here's a cooler version of it with spirals. http://www.dogfeathers.com/java/spirals.html Also, I'm pretty sure this hasn't improved any reaction times of mine at all. I have thought that it is very comparable to sightreading something on the piano, however, my piano sightreading skills have not been improved. I think my improved skill for this game is pretty specific. For example, even if I try to use different fingers than what I'm used to, I completely suck at it. |

it doesn't really make you smarter but it helps your performance such as, reaction time, eye-hand coordination, and being able to stare at computer screens for hours.

FFR can {and has done to me} make one side of your chest smaller than the other.
But it's evening out now. Somehow. =(

omg vague movies from theposter above me...
anyways... i havent read everything above, but FFR does increase your mental ability in such way that you can comprehend things at a faster speed. That means it can come in handy for things (as mentioned before ) speedreading and intelligence game. It cannot however improve ones intelligence because it doesnt challenge the mind, but the eye-hand coordination cq reaction but thats just mine opinion next to everybody else XD peace Dreameaters beware in your dreams cause the dreameaters will come and eat them |

I think so youre testing your reaction time and increasin memory span by remembiring patterns and identifying rythems in the music.

I have recentley started playing FFR and as I slowly get better so does my typing skills, reflexes and reaction time. Typing is a major part of my job and everyday there is a noticiable difference in the speed at which may fingers can fly across the keybord.

As far as smarter? Not so much, but a little as far as my tests taking much less time. However, it DOES curse me when doing something that you need to take your time on, like Albatross18. I rarely get better than last on that game... |

my typing speed went up from 70 wpm to my highest of 103 over the course of a year. also, it helped my hand eye coordination so im MUCH, MUCH better in art than i was before i started FFR. i literally went from being completely average in art class to being the best in the class.

I'm not sure if anything is capable of making me smarter than I already am.
And yes, I'm just that conceited.

*ZING* goes my reaction time and processing speed
think of it this way, before FFR i turned test in on average time and got below average grades NOW, i am done usually twice as fast as others in math, get average grades, and i am very good at volleyball and other sports where u have to use small or short bursts of speed ![]() as for IQ, i bet it went down 133 to 100 o.0 (not really, the day i retested i took 3 tests had had 4 hours of excruciating homework.... and the tests were acutually inaccurate tests) oh, and i have a record of 100 to 1 in egyption rat screw, 100 being wins!
