Also from what I'm reading....Avalon allows wolves to know the identities of...two vanilla townies?

Thats to create a bigger pool for the wizards to hide in.

Without adding the 2 VT to the mix theyd just know who the merlins are, only missing the color assignments

In this case, the chance of the wolf team instantly winning the game by luck is 3! (16% chance of them winning by guessing the merlins randomly) and only gets better with more info


With 2 VT in the mix, those odds decrease to 5! (0.8% chance)

From what I can tell, merlins know each other but not the colors. They also know a wolf of their respective color, but only them.

Wolves know each other and are handed five names, three of which are merlins while the other two are VT. The caviat here is wolves can't kill these five players the very first night, they're 100% safe sans today's vote.

So... this game is going to be about not being super obvious for both sides it seems. Merlins can't just outright start accusing because if they did, the wolves would know instantly and just guess the colors to end the game prematurely.

I watched Mean Girls for the first time like a month ago and it was like walking into a time machine but instead of going to the 1980s like I would do it instead sent me back to 2004 :/

How did you manage to go this long without seeing Mean Girls? I've watched it on my own accord a few times but most of the time it seems like it was just.... on. Someone else put it on, or it was on TV, or something. It was inescapable! Probably the biggest movie for our generation!

Honestly the fashion in it holds up tremendously for being from 2004, a lot of other movies and TV shows from that era look a lot more dated than Mean Girls imo. The humour generally holds up too. IDK, I'm obviously a fan of the movie but I just feel like most other media from that time is way more dated especially when you think about other comedy that was popular back then

Just reading the op a few times nothing seems to jump out at me. Are the merlins just supposed to be masons?

Maybe the right play is just ignore all the wizardry and play it like mountainous.

Theres a lot of info out there though so seems like kind of a waste to ignore it. Id like to get peoples opinions

I'll use this one quote to respond to the general conversation about this

It definitely seems super one sided to the wolves; town Merlin seem to just be expected to either wait on their respective wolf to do something they can either realistically tunnel for, or to just keep softing and hope others take the hints. That.....doesn't seem super useful.

My first instinct was that the rest of Town could cover by hypo's and just playing the part but because wolves have a list that only includes 2 towns, they already know who would be horseshiting and who might actually be the role so that seems less useful then it should.

So it seems to me the safest town play is to play vanilla for right now and avoid any amount of softing/claiming unless it gets to mylo. Our Merlin's are gonna have the same issue wolves have in that they carry the burden of knowledge, but we're gonna have to just like, make it happen I guess?

Actually this is a pretty interesting fact about me: for a lot of my early childhood we didn't have cable most of the time so I grew up watching VHS tapes. When I became a teen we had basic cable and I saw a lot of shows I hold nostalgia for, but had already made video games my main gig.

Once I moved out in 2008 I never, ever had cable again. I have gone most of my life without access to it. If I saw a movie it was on a DVD I owned or in the theater, but I didn't watch a lot of movies. It's the one media that's easily accessible that I never really dove in. For an example, I didn't even see Star Wars IV until 2015ish.

Anyway yes, the movie holds up extremely well in my opinion for what it is (obviously I don't think I'm the target audience, but I had a lot of fun. Also, I too was homeschooled and could relate the premise to when I first went to college) and I'm glad I saw it.

I suppose mornings are always slow on FFR, but I'm mindful that Shado checked in with every player, so I don't know how much slack I really want to cut on the inactives this game.

I suppose for this set up, it seems host will modkill an inactive 90 minutes before EOD. If so, voting an inactive is actually not the correct play here as we will never be in a situation that forces to vote between content and lack of content.

I suppose we can only focus on the active this game, but the pool is still fairly small right now and that's a bummer

I suppose mornings are always slow on FFR, but I'm mindful that Shado checked in with every player, so I don't know how much slack I really want to cut on the inactives this game.

To be fair to the people who haven't checked in yet, Shado's message specifically mentioned the game starting today (the 18th). I know he mentioned in the signups thread that it might be rolled earlier but I'm not sure everyone checked the thread.

So I'm willing to give slack to those who haven't shown up yet wrt activity

If the decision can't be reversed after the deadline, then it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. I suppose seeing the flips could influence EOD, but if a player is effectively dead it seems weird to withhold that info
