Not exactly. I've been discussing the points made in this thread personally with Xenorosth on Skype for the past hour.

thread cutting for when threads get too screwy

or screw cutting for when screws need to be threaded

there's a joke in here involving scissoring and high thread count sheets but i can't find it

Now, obviously, it doesn't have to be, but it should be obvious where to go to play the game. Like, brain dead. Like. PRESS THIS RED BUTTON brain dead.

Why not through the automated message?

Here are some other things that could and probably should be introduced, since all we touch are forums in this intro post.
                • Skill Tokens
                • Normal Tokens (soon to be revamped I hope!)
                • FFR Events Forum
                • Tier Points
                • Leaderboards
These are the 2 parts I definitely agreed on from my own experience and my experience getting friends to play. Personally it took me a long time of knowing people in the community to learn all the terms that go with rhythm games because I had never played a rhythm game before this. Maybe a second, separate message that goes out to new players with a bit of basic information (ex. Navigating through MP as I've yet to see a new player intuitively know how to do that lol).

The second is the play button needing to be easier to find. I've recommended this game to well over 20 people and I've managed to keep a total of 0 of them playing for longer than a month. Navigation around the site and specific details that are known among the community but not really outsiders makes the game just flashing arrows and not really an interactive game with others. I'm not saying to overhaul the entire site, but something easy like changing the position of the play button would be great.

i just wanna say i appreciate you trying out a UI/UX study on FFR even if i don't agree with many of your proposed next steps, because knowing what organic first impressions are like helps a lot

When I read this thread, I remembered the old page layout with the banner (http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/.../WhatIsFFR.swf).

I'm not sure if it stopped showing when you register.

So what's all the hubbub about? If you want to get your groove on and don't have the means to get up and shake it, FFR will fulfill your every need. Pound those keys and make your fingers dance!

You enter a website called "FlashFlashRevolution", you probably expect a DDR clone, you click the bold "Play FFR" button and find a game where you have to press buttons corresponding to flying arrows.

                            isn't that enough

                                Speaking of playing FFR...

The R^3 engine itself isn't very convenient as much as it looks a lot nicer. You, the beginning player, must navigate to the very complicated Settings menu and either change the Judge offset to 1 or the Frame rate to 60. Not to mention speed vs. rate etc.
