This is probably the last decent chance Detroit is going to have for a playoff push for a while. Datsyuk is leaving next year and Zetterberg is getting old too. Unless their prospects miraculously develop, it might be time for a rebuild in a couple years.

This is probably the last decent chance Detroit is going to have for a playoff push for a while. Datsyuk is leaving next year and Zetterberg is getting old too. Unless their prospects miraculously develop, it might be time for a rebuild in a couple years.

There might be a chance Detroit trades Datsyuk to a team like Arizona to get them off the cap floor... Which would net you a pick or something. Not much, but there's that =)

Here's a good read about Pavel's decision to quit the Wings after the playoffs]. He might play another year in the KHL though, but there's no chances he will play again in the NHL.

And yeah, the Wings have a few talented younger players (Larkin, Tatar, Nyquist, Abdelkader), but I think they'll be on rebuild mode in the next years. I think with Mrazek stepping up as the #1 goalie, they might trade Jimmy Howard for another goalie with a smaller contract or some #1 or 2 pick.

Bandwagoning the Florida teams~

EDIT TWO: Forgot to rub in the fact that there's no Canadian teams in the playoffs and I wanted to hear your thoughts about that.

1.) If you're hoping to get a rise out of me by "rubbing it in", you're going to be disappointed.

2.) Thoughts: Meh. If anything, this year showed glaring deficiencies in some teams (MTL), previous years being a fluke (CGY, OTT, WPG), the need for rebuilding (TOR, VAN), and the need for defense (EDM). Even so, some teams made good strides and are going to be exciting to watch in the coming years.
TOR had a slew of young guys step up and prove they can play (and the Marlies are going to slaughter the AHL this playoff season holy crap); EDM showed signs of brilliance thanks to McDavid and the best goaltending they've had since Roloson; being a biased VAN fan, watching their young guys come up was fun, and seeing someone like Horvat take the reigns like he did at the tail end of the season gives me hope.

Plus, there's a 66% chance that a Canadian team is getting the top pick, and a decent chance of the Canadian teams getting all 3 lottery spots (hell, there's a slim chance the first 6 draft picks will be by Canadian teams, and a very tiny chance that all 7 pick in the first 8). The future is bright.







Plus most teams still have a decent chunk of Canadian players, so there's that.

Philly's chances just took a nosedive after Ovie laid out Couturier, one of the Flyers' best penalty killers. Looks like there's something wrong with his left arm or shoulder.

I honestly don't think they have much of a chance either way. That series as well as the Dallas/Minnesota series could be incredibly one sided.
